Tesla Tower, Circuit Expansion and 95% Arc Damage Reduction Armor

Was playing around with a build last night as an experiment. Use the aggro mechanic to your benefit.

You must use 95% Arc Damage reduction armor. This is what prevents you from getting killed by the Tesla towers. With this armor, if the tower does hit you it can be for no damage at all or anywhere from 10%-30% of your health. Easy to stim out of even after a few zaps from a Tesla.

The Circuit Expansion ship module upgrade does add to the lethality.

I had never used a Tesla tower until last night. They are quite lethal and see why they should not be used in a random group. Be warned, Tesla's can also trigger a hellbomb on the map if in the Tesla's range.

It's not that great solo but when you have a friend or two it's pretty crazy.

Started the test at D3, then D5 and D7 on bugs. Had just one friend running a Tesla as well. Still interested to see a full Tesla group out of curiosity.

First test D3. We came to the edge of a medium bug nest and put two towers up about 10 meters apart.

I then skirted the edge of a tower, ran down in the nest, stirred up the bugs and ran back up and skirted back behind the Tesla's taking a zap or two with the bug mob in tow. It was insane!!! ZAP ZAP ZAP Zippty-ZAP. I saw a single tower take out 9 small bugs in one shot. At this difficulty level it wasn't even fair.

On to the D5 bug testing at a medium nest. The glorious zapping of not just two towers, but four Tesla towers zapping were away. With a cooldown of 1:50 (without ship upgrades) you can get two towers up at a single time. With just the two of us we had four towers up and they do not appear to damage sentries placed inside of the Tesla's range. The bugs just can't help themselves and are drawn to the sentries and the Bug Zapper.

How about D7? This is where the disappointment arose. Guess what the FISRT thing an Impaler will attack? Tesla towers. Chargers will go after them just as they would any other sentry, that was expected.

If you need a chuckle one night, give it a shot. I had a few 20 and 30 kill streaks with Tesla's and to see it blow them to pieces is hilarious.

Tesla is fun, but not reliable. Overall a fun combo on 6th diff

Tesla should NEVER be reliable.

However my favorite trick is to EXTEND the Tesla Towers attacks by using myself as a conduit

It's fun with the lib concussive and arc thrower as well. A good push back then zap zap again. The only problem is once any chargers or bile titans are introduced they 100% will hone in and destroy that thing in about 5 seconds.

Yup, so only fun up to D5 D6 levels.

wish the armor just made it so the tower and arc thrower dont target you or if thats too hard a 100% reduction and some stagger resist. That would actually open up some cool new ways to play like using tesla towers to create a "safe zone" near you that keeps chaff away from you so you can use your AT weapons more effectivly.

ATM the armor is a niche waste of space like 98% of the match that allows you to take a couple hits from a stratagem you still need to stay away from and that gets clowned on instantly most times you deploy it anyways getting barely any value.

nah it prevents the tower from targeting you, u can crawl past them that way too. issue is this game is very unfrienly to going prone as it usually just results in you either getting splattered or just making it easier for the enemy to headshot you as the fact you are a smaller target is completly irrelevant for the AI.
now that im typing it out im realising the ARC armor making you untargetable for the tesla tower isnt even that unrealistic for the devs to code in theyre already halfway there.

Nah, stay prone and telsa tower will completely ignore you. I'm not as sure about the arc thrower though.

It's a fun toy on low difficulty, but anything past that and there are too many chargers and bile titans who just one-shot it before it gets to do much.

That is true.

But it is a cool show for some people just starting the game. And to help them along while we wait for new content.

I popped in on a lone Level 3 playing D3 last night with the Arc Tower Build. Imagine being new to the game and a LVL70 drops in with crazy toys to see and play with.

When I dropped in I was honest, I said I'm here to help you but be warned. Stay far away from the Tesla Towers, they WILL one shot you. I gave him my Auto Cannon and said be careful with it :)

Threw a Tower in a big nest and he enjoyed the the show while learning to close bug holes with the AC from the outer edge.

Ever use a Scythe young recruit? Here a go :)

Yeah, I feel like they really should change the call-in beam for the tesla tower to red like the mines and strikes. You don't want to be anywhere near where it comes down.

Arc suit makes it hilarious to see and hear as it's zapping the ♥♥♥♥ out of you walking through it. But do not walk in between the middle of two towers, even with the suit :)
