Okay so this needs to change the friggin thing can spawn tentacles over the entire map.

I think impaler range is currently bugged, but yeah it's designed to be a threat you are better off engaging than running away from.

Me on my way to engage the impaler, while having no idea which cardinal direction it resides in, while beset by 60+ enemies, while having orbital strike on cooldown, while being ragdolled every 3 seconds by the tentacles.

I know the feeling lmao, especially when half of the 60 enemies are hunters on that new planet that just opened up.

The other joy when an ion storm rolls in the moment the impaler shows up and all you have is a slow firing quesar.

I heard they are planning on an impaler rework.

I do find it annoying how we can't tell which direction the tentacles are coming from.

As a result of their absurd danger and long range, it's pretty kill-on-sight for every team I've been in. Terminate with extreme prejudice.

Get a MG and shoot the ♥♥♥♥ oiut of it. It takes only half mag.
Oh, and my favorite part is how if you are the sole focus of it's attention it can just ragdoll stun lock you into oblivion. I forgot to mention that part.

The moment any of us even see a single tentacle we immediately scan and kill if we can see it. My objection lies more in the fact they either didn't test it properly, or they just released it thinking they would fix it later.

Maybe if they weren't so focused on balancing the game into pure keyboard snapping frustration and instead focused on making enemies fun to kill we'd have a better time.
I don't know what this bizarre obsession they have with weapon balance is since this is a PVE game and there is absolutely zero competitive game-play, but maybe if they had a team member with actual firearms experience they could get it right.

"Waahhh! People are only using the few good guns! We need to make them worse so people use other stuff!"

This is why I stopped using the quasar. It's nice having infinite ammo, but if you can only fire two rounds a minute it's useless for anything above level 6.

Bug heavies need a rework, which I believe they are doing.

A hulk you can kill with a single railgun eye shot but chargers are much harder comparatively.

Tentacles should be limited to a long, but not infinite range, and maybe have some ground rumble/dust effects that streak off on the ground towards its location (like the tentacles are wriggling under the surface).

They nerfed the railgun strat specifically because people were killing chargers too quickly. Same reason they made hunters faster and jump longer distances, because people were just running away from them.
Legit some developer sits in front of a spreadsheet and thinks, "people are killing these enemies too quickly, let's figure out a way to increase that average time to kill".
It's so dumb.

The tentacles and the Impaler may be 4 different units. This would means that tentacles most likely have separate aggro from the Impaler. Once they have aggroed on you they will follow almost indefinitely like any other bug, however, if you shoot them enough while far enough away from the Impaler they won't respawn. This is the only consistent way I've found to drop tentacle aggro aside from running into melee range of the Impaler.
