Chaos Divers Demystified

There's a lot of negative stigma about what the Chaos Divers actually are and how we operate, so I figured since my PSA kind of kicked off on youtube explaining that we're not going out of our way to destroy samples, kill teammates and otherwise just be drongos, that now would be a good time to post here to give you some perspective.

You've likely heard a lot about the Chaos Divers though different youtubers or people on the forums saying what we've all heard before- That we TK, grief etc.

If you or a friend experience this in game, please head to the Chaos Diver discord and notify the staff. They're not Chaos Divers, they are griefers and do not belong within our community.

That is, if they're even part of the Chaos Diver community in the first place. Anyway, this video should help clear the air because I'd like you all to know that we're just players with the launch-day spirit of roleplay; but unfortunately a lot of others in the Chaos Divers don't understand that shouting "VERA LIBERTAS" does not in fact convince someone of a point you are trying to make from a meta/out of character perspective.

Even if you dislike it's contents or disagree, the links to the discord are in the video description; you're welcome to check in and see for yourself. Players of all loyalties are welcome and I hope our fractured community can one day take a breath and get back to what made this game special.

I just poked around and found this nice little thing here, I don't use discord at the moment but would love to group with some of the chaos divers if possible in game, seeing videos mentioning various player made kind of factions and how mysterious the Chaos Divers sound, it's had me curious since they came up and I wanted to see more of what it's really like being around you guys, I'm a neutral Helldiver with no association to any particular groups, if they exist, I'm unaware of such.

Eh, disagree on the intent. Much like the Warhammer 40k universe, this game leans in the whole authoritarian propaganda concept to set it's world, and players are happy to roleplay it.

It has the predictable effect of attracting actual nazy and nazy sympatiser that thinks that their ideas are welcomed by looking at the game from afar. It's really up to the community to weed out douchbags afterwards, if someone stops being satirical about it then it becomes a problem.

Plus Helldiver 1/2 are so tongue in cheek about it that I hardly see how anyone that isn't already radicalised would consider this propaganda, like even the tutarial mission treats you as a meatbag.

That problem could be raised in WH 40k tho, especially with the new Space marine game, that portrays the emporium and the whole of space marines has these uppity heroes, saves a few interactions. Hell, some hardcore WH fans have also expressed dislikes because it's also a tad insulting to the source material since everyone is a bad guy in it.

EDIT : also should point that there is plenty of troll bots that'll just spew fascist propaganda to drive up engagement, no point in paying them attention.

Point being, I would only treat as fascist supporters those that displays this seriousness in their remarks, treat the rest as roleplay.

And Discord mods talking about sending problematic individuals to the "freedom camp" whilst wearing the SS officer skull for a profile is also getting really obnoxious.

Alright, look broski, you need to take a step back and relax, I highly doubt that first comment that started this ♥♥♥♥ fest was intended to be a nazi sympathizer in the slightest, if they're just roleplaying around, they're just roleplaying around, this sort of ♥♥♥♥ is completely normal with 'em after my over 2k amount of hours back then on Garry's Mod years ago

I'm french, who's family were in the resistance, you don't get to pull the victim card on me with the nazies. I'm well aware of the atrocities commited, that even some of my own helped with, you aren't winning this piss contest

Second, I'm not making those jokes, beside some "for super earth" sometimes in game when it's funny to do so.

Third, calling out actual facists should be more important than getting up the ass of fictional ones. You are aware that the guy above was joking. I was aware of it, pretty much everyone is. You should concern yourself with those that take this message seriously instead.

Lastly, the best tool against authoritarian regimes, is sarcasm. If you take neo-nazys seriously, they become a threat. If you ridicule them and make a mockery of what they stand for, they lose this aura and their ability to radicalise others.

You, by being annoying about obvious jokes, are doing a favor to the people you oppose. I hope we can close this tangent now, I don't wish to derail this further.

wow, what a funny joke... "let's put these people into freedom camps" aka. a reference to real life concentration camps. With the game fully being aware of the fact that's what they are with also the fact that the lore implies they're a government secret. Just like concentration camps in real life...

Wow, real funny... REALLY FUNNY... SENSE OF HUMOUR 100... Plus this isn't a competition of who is the bigger victim. I'm just annoyed that I have real generational trauma over having my country genocided be constantly reawakened by people failing to be creative.
