It isn't fun(for me) beyond that.
3 idiots= most frustrating game ever
Hard to carry bad players in difficulty 10.
8 is where you start to have the maximum number of secondary objectives for XP and liberation progress. I don't particularly care about the sample pickup on 10. It's so pointless. And they can keep the mega nests, there's no shortage of things to blow up on 8.
I didn't want to be THAT GUY and say it but yeah 10 feels easier than 9 used to be. Not sure how I feel about that...
I've heard some people say 7 is the sweet spot, I definitely agree that 9-10 feel like a more hectic version of 8 as opposed to 7-8 feeling very distinct compared to everything prior.
I tried carrying a level 1 through dif 10 this morning before my caffeine. It ended in me taking a break from the game today lol
The game is a chaos generator. The more mobs you aggro the more chaos you create.
Limit the chaos and maintain control. Lose control, then take off to the next objective.
For D6 and below you can blast away at everything you see.
Started a D8 bot mission last night and a level 38 thought a Walker was good idea.
It's a different game at higher difficulties. You simply can' stand there and fight the wave upon wave of bot drops.
That's why you hear all the crying about weapon nerfs.
It's not about how many kills you can score at the higher difficulty levels. It's actually how few you get while completing the objectives.
Running is part of the game. Nail the objective and if the area is too hot come back when the masses de-spawn.
Learn when not to shoot. It's really that simple.
I do play 7's when I'm listening to something or I'm chilling out, but 8's have another secondary objective, and those are the best way to get more XP. XP also directly translates to liberation contribution.
I'm a firm believer that learning how to always keep shooting is the most fun... but not against the bots. I run from those menaces plenty on 7 and above lol
I've got a different playlist for each difficulty so I know exactly what you mean lol. I didn't know that about 8 though I'm looking forward to experimenting with that when I get bored of learning how to maximize the amount of time one can spend feeling like Doomguy per match XP
The jank IS waaay more noticeable the higher up one goes... but in my personal experience it's still far too common and annoying on pretty much every difficulty. Can't wait for them to spend the next few months polishing this thing now that they're getting full staff again.
As frustrated as I am with things like bug breaches lasting for what feels to be 4 minutes, it *can* be fun with a good team. Charging into a super-nest, by myself, because I saw a window to get in there and do damage to it / extract a mutated egg is certainly a unique and... dare I say enjoyable? Experience xD
No way in hell I come out of that alive, but if I can shut down a few nests and get the unique sample closer to the exit, it's a win.
Weird, cause like... the super nest eats into all your time. And then the rest of the mission is just kinda easy?
Not a huge fan of some of the diff 10 'exclusive' enemies, like Alpha Commanders. I think an Alpha by itself is fine, but then they end up being one of the only enemies spawning and it just becomes a bit of a slog. At least the autocannon decapitates them in one shot, though. Started running AC/Lasercannon more on Terminids bceause of it. Learnt how to kill some old enemies in new ways. I can appreciate that.
It's definitely got no shortage of fun and frustrating moments for sure. So far I really love mega nests.
