PSA: Using Medium/Heavy Armor with Jump Pack prevents faceplanting
I'm sure many of you have tried the buffed Jump Pack with our beloved light armors and end up falling clumsily when you land. Try using it with medium or heavy armor instead and it drastically reduces your chances to trip.

Isn't Jetpack distance based on your run speed while you sprint? If you're taking medium or heck heavy armor, aren't you purposefully gimping your ability to cover ground fast?

Yes, and because of too much momentum now we tend to faceplant when we land. IMO, with the jump pack being buffed, you can afford to wear heavier armor while still maintaining good mobility. If you don't mind tripping after every jump, then light armor is for you.

It's hilarious how little this matters.

I'm just going to say this: I love the Dark Storm Trooper jump pack & the jet pack from the non-EA Star wars BF2

Thanks.

Does this negate the damage when you booster down and the ground is lower on the area that took off? Like for example, jetting down a slope I take weird fall damage despite my diver landing on his feet.

Ive wiped out on my face using medium armours, but compared to my friend who runs lights exclusively it does seem less common in medium.

Personally I didn't mind the face planting because its amusing

You what else prevent you from falling with new jetpack? Not holding sprint and movement keys before landing
depends on obstacles though

I can't 100% confirm this but I don't seem to take much if any fall damage with the heavier armors.

That happens because your Boosters fire too early. The boosters fire any time you are moving "down" and come within a certain distance of any surface. If you are going down a slope, the distance you drop after the boosters can be higher than the fall damage threshold.

the only time I ragdoll from jumping with light armour is when I bump into something or if my legs hit a ledge. Have you considered paying attention to where you use your jump pack?

It's dumb it does this. I love the new jet pack but taking ridiculous damage from landing is killing me.

I hope auto vault helps with climbing ledges. So far Haven't done enough tests

i just ram my spacebar like a madman that seems to work. altho you gotta keep in mind AH has made a lot of rocks covered in grease for some reason or just made em non climable despite visually looking perfectly normal. some planets are worse than others. desert planets tend to have the best rock formations with the least amount of glitching and sliding. jetpacks are just straight awfull in jungle planets tho.

Honestly I liked the old one better, but probably because I had it's trajectory figured out pretty well.

Now when I try to use it to get to a high ledge, it seems like the angle pretty much guarantee's you'll impact on a ledge or drag your legs and rag doll.

It's much better for most uses that don't include getting a high spot, but I do miss being able to land those without face planting.
