Automatons - What happened
On release the automatons felt distinctly different to that of the bugs when is came to how they fought, they would engage you at farther distances and only call in drop ships when they where low on troops. The bugs would do the opposite, they would call in help once you engaged them and then try and melee swarm you. But today the bots just act like terminids with guns. They run up on you and swarm you while also shooting at you the whole time whilst running at you, thus completely ruining the whole idea of the two factions being different. Combine this with their ridiculous COD esque time to kill, makes the bots more of chore to fight then anything else. Recent update claims to have stopped the whole shooting through walls problem, but ive experienced it several times when i fought them today. And then the armor and damage values changes from the patch a few days ago does literally nothing, since they still kill you in the same amount of shots, usually 3-5 with heavy armor. Which the armor system in itself is horrendous and heavy armor is completely useless outside of the drip. They made the game so much better then it was with the weapons, and then make half the games content a chore, i understand now why so many people avoid the bots.

On a separate note i like the games current state with the weapons, but the enemies feel super inconsistent on the bots side, with the deadliest enemy still being the basic soldier or heavy devastator, with the tank and walkers being nothing much of a threat.

I Think my problem with bots now lies in the fact that they aren't tactical at all, Basically they either stand there and shoot, or run out into the open and shoot, They won't take cover, They just move to where they can shoot you, I Think that's what causes them to feel pretty bad, I'd like bots to be able to use cover, and upon taking fire, Seek walls to hide behind while exchanging fire, And then we can reduce the unit spam because each unit feels more impactful now

If bots took cover...that objectively would make them even MORE of a chore to fight, maybe more of a interesting fight, but I guarentee you it would be a massive chore and would make fights VERY prolonged and frustrating ESPECIALLY since they would all be standing out in the open and stopping them from calling for reinforcements would be even MORE difficult than it is now.

Bots are mostly only dangerous when throwing mixed units at you. Some act as artillery to bombard your position, some try to force you into cover, some rush your position to flush you out, others act as barriers to limit your freedom of movement, etc.

Once you're used to the target priority and attacking from behind cover, you're already over the main challenge bots bring to the table. They are their most dangerous together, but since we have airstrikes they're also more vulnerable then as well.

The term you're looking for here is 'subjectively.' Because whether or not bots taking cover would make them more of a 'chore' depends on your opinion on the matter. Some people would find smarter Automatons to be more engaging.
