So about armor penetration...

isnt it like kinda stupid and funny how there is not a single primary weapon with strong armor penetration but a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ revolver aka secondary that has strong armor pen like huh?? wheres the damn logic we got primary rifles etc all of them only have if at all medium pen but not more it makes no freaking sense xD

The Senator is a bit of a surprise.

However, AH's thought process has been to force Helldivers to rely upon Support weapons and Stratagems.. Making Divers think about the items they bring for a mission. They don't want people running around with primary weapons taking down the biggest threats.

The Senator is an interesting gun. While it's possible to take down larger enemies with it, it's not the easiest way to do it. There is a YT group that did an "all Senators" bug mission with three of them. They didn't lock the mission so a random joined them with a real loadout. Therefore, you didn't get to see if they could have done the whole mission just using the Senators. While it's very strong, the ammo economy is not great with it.

Until you run into a few medium armored threats and can't deal with them because the spread and falloff is astronomically short and wide, plus low capacity AND your stun shells only work if you manage to hit one of the very few weak points that are AP1... Yes... you sure got'em...

The logic is in "video game", which is counter to how a lot of balance was and still is. Personally I am not a fan of buffed up pistols beyond reason, though I do admit that I use them (Verdict and Senator).

I personally would have liked the Plasma Pistol to have the charge up -> AP 4 + concentrated damage (not blast), however I don't drive the bus. At least this way I have some semblance of being able to accept the unbelievable when killing a tank from the rear with a sidearm (plasma is already full fantasy, so not a problem).

Senator only got buffed because Verdict was deemed to get buffed in a pass-through of the competition. Verdict was already good and now the Peacemaker is only further left in the dust so... not sure what's going on there.

It's the one case where fun overtakes sense and it's great. It's good vs Hive Guards and either Small striders. Though, if you are using it against tanks or chargers you are in a desperate situation.

all the weapons have something ♥♥♥♥ about them, the senator is no different, just cos it has AP 4 and can now kill hulks and painfully slowly kill large bugs doesnt mean that every primary needs to have AP4, but i do agree that the slugger should get it. Puts big holes in big targets, come on man. give it ap4.

explosive is not a penetration type of normal ammo

Explosions have an AP value like everything else (usually AP3 which is medium pen but grenades can go higher). You're probably thinking of explosion damage usually dealing full damage to durable parts or because explosions have a radius that if you hit an armored part the explosion can still reach a weak spot.

The pump action shotguns should just be 1 shotgun with different ammo.
Dragonbreath, buckshot, slugs, explosive, sabot.
AP 1,2,3,3,4, damage 500,400,300,200,100

back in Helldiver1, Senator was a booster
along with the plasma pistol, so it was understandable if they were as powerful as they are now
but nope, they were actually kinda weak
