Is 60 fps possible on the Steam Deck?
If you turn enough settings down, can it be achieved?

Maybe if you play the game at Trivial level.

Not once you get to the higher difficulty levels.

Ever hour I've played have been on my Deck OLED. You won't necessarily "hold" 60 fps but you can make it smooth. Smooth is what you need, not spikey frame rates.

Got it, thanks. I'll just download it later in that case. I wasn't sure if it would be worth the space right now. And i coulnd't find any recent Youtube video's about the performance on the deck either.

At least you're not on a 7200 rpm HDD like the last dude I had the luck to get in my lobby and allowed us to read through all the loading screen tips.

On lowest difficulties yes it can.
On any decent difficulty, no.
That being said while 60fps is normally my minimum, +/-30fps is worth getting used to on the deck.
I try to remind myself that i used to play 30fps or less back on my playstation 3.

Difficulty 7~8 are the best challenge to playability ratio (if you prefer anything lower than that that's a big bonus).
Lately i play on difficulty 10 at minimal settings, but render scale 100% and it varies somewhere between 20~40fps, sometimes even touching below 20's.
Render scale lower (80% or less) has higher and more stable fps yield, but looks a bit blurry.
Imo it works vs bugs but vs bots i prefer being able to see distant targets so i cope with the slight fps impact at 100% render scale.

Like Mahjik said before it's important to get smooth framerates rather than spikes.
Even at 25fps you can do fairly well as long as it feels stable and doesn't keep dipping up and down, throwing off your aim and inputs.

I use cryoutilities 2.0 and i feel like that has massively improved the amount of spikes.
Not neccesarily improved fps overall, but smoothened it out making it more playable.
(Key word there is "feel", some people vouch for cryo while others say it makes no difference).
