New Halt shotgun, inconsistant and weak??

having issues with this failing to pen Light armor with either ammo time
Failing to pen medium armor or stun enemies along with just overall weak damage.

Seems like also Stalkers were buffed because they're eating railgun headshots

the spread is so bad that it needs to be super close to be powerfull , although stun is pretty powerfull

No joke. The spread is so bad that while aiming at a Hive Guard in front of me, I shot down a Shrieker above me.

Stalkers funnily enough are one tapped by the Halt pretty consistently, plus the stun invalidates their existence.
If ya shooting light, <50m is fine, even warrios get headshotted easily there.
Mediums I'd recommend closing some distance, <25m.

For the stun, as long as one pellet hits you'll stun most everything. Aim underneath chargers, their chin. Belly is AP2 and makes stunning them a breeze even from the front.

It's a really good cover for most enemies honestly, I'd recommend rebinding the weapon functions to 'press' on a seperate key rather than the 'hold' on R.

Yeah, its medium range damage is a little unreliable for me, but that stun though...

the stun rounds should keep their spread, but increase damage to reliably kill hunters in at most 2 trigger pulls, the flechette rounds should have a very tight spread so you can kill medium threats at a fairly long range.

It's kinda only good in like 5-10m and also require you to swap ammo constantly to make full use of it since normal shot doesn't have stagger at all.

The only reason to pick them is so you can play a bit more "supportive" role with your stun rounds and kill anything bugs that get too close to you.

Its a case of youtubers doing their best to hype up the weapon, perhaps in the hope of gaslighting enough people to buy into the scam that its really good so their bad takes they had when the warbond was new will not be questioned.

Against bots = Take the Punisher instead, every single pellet staggers if it hits light armor and up close where the Halt can hit both its stun and medium pen shots the Punisher is already hitting and staggering them from +20-30 meters away and anywhere near the same distance the Halt is effective, the Punisher is popping Devastator faces.

Sure Punisher is not the best against Rocket Striders but I would laugh if I saw someone try to rush these guys with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HALT. You use stratagem/support weapon to deal with them and any other enemy outside shotgun range like any sane person would.

The bot front is unironically the front where you really do not need a medium pen primary(given that you have a way to deal with Rocket Striders ofc) and either way, Halt stun only works on light armor and the medium pen shots have basically 0 stagger sooo... Punisher literally 10x better against bots.


Against bugs = Take the Slugger instead, you do want a medium pen primary against bugs because Guards, Commanders and Spewers are all a PITA to fight without it.

You also want stun/stagger so you can deal with death-rushing Warriors and Commanders something the Slugger has no issue with, it even staggers Spewers.

Yes the Halt can be good against bugs but it requires you to constantly fiddle with the ammo type, uses more ammo(not really much of a issue since you want a Supply backpack for any of these) and has significantly less range than the Slugger

Quite literally the only benefits the Halt has against the bugs is "Waow it can stun Chargers11!!!1!" as if someone that has no problem swapping ammo types against the correct enemies is someone that needs to stun Chargers to deal with them. Toss a Thermite or w/e and be done with it... and Hunters/Shriekers will at least(hopefully) get hit by some of the flechettes even if they are being evasive while the Slugger is a hit or miss weapon.

but a half-decent spray from the Halt wont kill a Hunter anyway so you still have to shoot again and again and again depending on range, if the Slugger hits they are likely dead, even if they survive the hit they get staggered so you dump a 2nd slug into them.


So after taking this massive dump on the Halt I want to say that yes, its a fun weapon and I am not saying people should not use it if they want to. I just want people to stop pretending its some absurdly good weapon that is much better than Punisher/Slugger when its more like 2 full tiers below them in effectiveness due to the massive spread it has and lack of stagger.

It has enough damage and a gimmick that people can play around but in the end its a Punisher/Slugger with extra steps and still much worse accuracy than either of them.
Its more of a meme weapon, honestly not much better than the Constitution in terms of "I could be using something else than this".
