Impaler is terrible.
It's not exciting it's annoying.

All this time waiting for more content and it's basically a troll enemy meant to be obnoxious.

Awesome AH. Thanks. You're so good at your job.

Eh, skill issue. Impaler tentacles are easy to avoid when you pay attention to their spawn que, and the impaler is no harder to kill than a charger. Arguably easier, as it actually stands still most of the time.

yes. Being ragdolled every second is not that great

Nope.
If your able to spot them early enough you can bait the tentacles and then mag dump its
exposed face with a HMG and kill it fairly quickly.

Impaler is a bit strange and need some changes. For one AT weapons are not good against them. Even to the exposed face you need 4 rockets. AT Turrets struggle too and need as much ammo and time to take one down as if fighting a Titan. On the other hand the Gatling turrets shred them in less then 3 sec to the face.

in HD1 a single rocket hit to the exposed Face killed them or 2 if still covered. Makes sense since it tends to hide behind crowds so players need to snipe them with a careful shot.

Impaler feels very inconsistent. I emptied a full autocannon in its exposed face and it still survived. Can drop a precision strike on it and it'll survive. Sometimes they just feel unkillable for no reason.
The most annoying function is when there is a swarm that you're trying to deal with and suddenly the tentacles pop up, and now you have to find where the impaler is to deal with it, or when there's 2 or more impalers instead, or how much range they have. They're a menace.

Sometimes if there's not enough open terrain around you it will spawn tentacles right under you killing you instantly or throwing you across the map.

At this point I feel like I'm tailoring my loudouts to counter enemies bugging out instead of their mechanics.

I should take Spear for Titans because sometimes they just eat other rockets. Take precision strike because 500kg is incredibly inconsistent. Take flamethrower for chargers to avoid their desync (and the velocity bug/feature(?)) messing with other damage options. Oh, wait that's been changed. Back to the old loadout.

How do I deal with bots shooting me through walls? Etc. etc...

Skill issue, get gud. Ragdolling is part of realism. Wtf you think gonna happen when u get launched 300ft in the air? You loose control, get back up and dust yourself off and get back in the fight. 10/10 need more ragdolling and MLRS/impaler style enemies..I suggest a rocket tank for bots that has 4 rocket pods duct taped together instead of 1.

Realism is not relevant in a game about shooting giant bugs and robots with laser cannons.

Using 'realism' and 'skill issue' for objectively terrible changes and additions is downright moronic. People play a game to have fun, not be thrown around helplessly and unable to actually play the game. The Impaler is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it can toss around your stuff after you die, the tentacles are basically unavoidable and bug out your mech, they spawn far too frequently and are tanky. The tentacles can't even be severed.

Impalers are fine when you can actually answer them cleanly, but when they're behind a wall of Chargers and Bile Titans and nestled behind cover on top of this, they become a PITA since unless you manage to cut your way through the enemies to drop an OPS/500kg on it you basically can't answer it. Also, the way to kill them with weapons is very weird:
  • While the exposed face is unarmored, it has extremely high HP, so the best option to damage it is actually to magdump it with a machine gun or autocannon, instead of using AT weapons like with every other big enemy in the game, which it soaks up.
  • Its tail hitbox is heavy on top and medium on the bottom, and about as tanky as the Charger's, meaning it's pretty much a non-starter unless you're desperate.
  • Its leg armor takes anywhere from two to three AT rockets to strip before you can magdump it, similar to the Behemoth, which also makes it practically a non-starter.
Add on the fact that their attack speed gives them the ability to basically stunlock you -- especially if there's more than just one of them, and you get an enemy that can quickly turn a bad situation into an insufferable one. It's especially standout since the reason why I'd play bugs is because I'm not in the mood to be ragdolled all the time by enemies on the bot front, which the Impaler introduces.

However, right now, there seems to be a bug with their hitboxes where, if you hit a specific region of their exposed face where the tentacles protrude from the head as seen here:
https://youtu.be/4wiNgMjpr_o?si=VwH8nuTHua9oKxW-&t=82
It'll essentially let you damage two (or more) hitboxes at a time, dramatically increasing your damage against them. For the time being, it's handy tech to use (until it's hotfixed), and should make the enemy at least a bit easier to handle.

hard to pay attention to tehiur spawn when you are already dodging the other 500 terminids that are on your ass. Not to mention you bascically get stunlocked as soon as one of his tentacles catches you since he will knock you down again before you can get up. Great game design as always, each update better than the last.

Tell that to the developers.
