exposed face with a HMG and kill it fairly quickly.
in HD1 a single rocket hit to the exposed Face killed them or 2 if still covered. Makes sense since it tends to hide behind crowds so players need to snipe them with a careful shot.
The most annoying function is when there is a swarm that you're trying to deal with and suddenly the tentacles pop up, and now you have to find where the impaler is to deal with it, or when there's 2 or more impalers instead, or how much range they have. They're a menace.
Sometimes if there's not enough open terrain around you it will spawn tentacles right under you killing you instantly or throwing you across the map.
At this point I feel like I'm tailoring my loudouts to counter enemies bugging out instead of their mechanics.
I should take Spear for Titans because sometimes they just eat other rockets. Take precision strike because 500kg is incredibly inconsistent. Take flamethrower for chargers to avoid their desync (and the velocity bug/feature(?)) messing with other damage options. Oh, wait that's been changed. Back to the old loadout.
How do I deal with bots shooting me through walls? Etc. etc...
Realism is not relevant in a game about shooting giant bugs and robots with laser cannons.
- While the exposed face is unarmored, it has extremely high HP, so the best option to damage it is actually to magdump it with a machine gun or autocannon, instead of using AT weapons like with every other big enemy in the game, which it soaks up.
- Its tail hitbox is heavy on top and medium on the bottom, and about as tanky as the Charger's, meaning it's pretty much a non-starter unless you're desperate.
- Its leg armor takes anywhere from two to three AT rockets to strip before you can magdump it, similar to the Behemoth, which also makes it practically a non-starter.
Add on the fact that their attack speed gives them the ability to basically stunlock you -- especially if there's more than just one of them, and you get an enemy that can quickly turn a bad situation into an insufferable one. It's especially standout since the reason why I'd play bugs is because I'm not in the mood to be ragdolled all the time by enemies on the bot front, which the Impaler introduces. However, right now, there seems to be a bug with their hitboxes where, if you hit a specific region of their exposed face where the tentacles protrude from the head as seen here:

It'll essentially let you damage two (or more) hitboxes at a time, dramatically increasing your damage against them. For the time being, it's handy tech to use (until it's hotfixed), and should make the enemy at least a bit easier to handle.
skill issue I rarely get rag dolled all about dodging.
