Honestly, if they could just increase the fire rate a bit more I’d use this a lot more against bots. Anyone else agree?

I don't find it that bad, to be honest. I like it more than the Eruptor, even if that one has more potential. But i wouldn't complain if they make it more powerful.

Honestly the crossbow is very good against bots, it outperform all other weapons if used correctly.
His strength is that is not popular. Once it become popular AH will nerf it. Is better to keep it in the current state at least for a month, then I will finally migrate to another game and then they can do what they want.

Has anyone tried it with a ballistic shield vs bots?
I saw someone use it in a video and it looked pretty fun tbh, actually able to take shield devastators head on by blocking their hits and popping their heads off.

i like the crossbow as a close/medium faster firing eruptor. i also agree that its viability would be resolved with a slight/medium bump in fire rate. weapon has a skill gap though with the projectile properties. very good "do all weapon" for fabricators, holes, devestators, spitter bugs, etc.

Ballistic Shields are bugged rn so I wouldn't bother. (You shoot above and to the right of your aim-point while behind the shield :) )

It still has no magazine size and no ammo even if they buffed the DPS. Now with Rocket Striders replacing regular Striders at high difficulty it's worse than ever. They take 4 shots to kill assuming none of your shots get deflected, which means you can kill 9 Striders before running out of ammo.

Rocket Striders also break your shield and one-shot you with their rockets, so you can't even facetank them anymore.

I did have a minor problem with the mag capacity when using it. If the reload speed was faster as well I’d feel a bit better with it. I do with it had more armor pen for striders. AH is pretty against increasing mag size since they do models.

AH needs to understand that gameplay > visuals; both in quality and fidelity. Not that pointing it on this thread matters.

The problem is all guns work by this metric so they’d have to redesign any gun to have larger mags. Obviously it if had double the mag size I wouldn’t care if it looked stupid since I vote for practically over looks anyway.

Just try it with the shield. If that doesn't tickle it for you, then just ignore it. There's lots of other weapons that are good against bots.

The crossbow should not fire faster. It's just a crossbow, it's really only the cutting edge of medieval warfare. There's a reason weapons have recoil springs and magazines, it's 'cuz they're better and let you fire more projectiles without using goofy cable ropes. Crossbows are better for stealth and if you're a felon and shouldn't own a gun.

Crossbow is ok I feel, I love using it with ballistics shield but you never see the cross hair when shield is up it's annoying

I'm saying there's probably ways to make it good without it losing it's identity. If you want a grenade launcher, then there should be a grenade launcher primary that's not the devastator for some reason. Machine-gun speed crossbow doesn't make a lot of sense when most crossbows aren't like that.

That's the thing though. It's not a grenade launcher. 2/3 of the damage comes from the projectile itself, and the explosion has a fairly small AoE.
