It probably happens to every enemy, but is most noticable with the thin skeleton-like bots because they have less room for error.
Probably a form of desync.
I notice a similar issue when sniping devastators' heads (or hulks'), it sometimes registers as a ricochet when i see it actually bounce off of their heads or eyeslit.
You can also choose if you want this to be decided per weapon or just for every weapon overall.
The eruptor though, 100% have watched my round sail through the other side of a target
