Fire resistant armor?

I keep lighting bugs on fire with my flamethrower, only for them to jump at me and light me on fire. Any hope of getting fire resistant armor in helldivers 2? Was such a thing in the first game?

I don't remember armor having stats in HD1, I'm pretty sure they were purely cosmetic. But who knows? I wasn't expecting a heavy armor that doubled down its damage reduction in the store today, it's a valid possibility.

No way, The only thing in HD 1 that defend against fire (or anything really) is the shield backpack.
But in HD 2...maybe, we do have explosive res armor after all.

Right now we have around 4 different armor passives, scout - Med - servo and heavy. Here's hoping we get some fire protection.

It's pretty terribad atm to use Flamethrower, have to get within breathing distance of bugs to get them covered in flame ( which the DPS is not great when shooting is 10x faster) Then you are now at risk of killing yourself with fire and getting mauled by bugs cause teammates won't usually help when you do that. I feel like adding an extra 10m range would solve that. Modern day ones can shoot way farther.... even vietnam/ww2 ones could shoot farther.... It's more of a Fire-sort of throwing it a little bit-er. Fire res would be great if you have it equipped but atm armor is broken. 6 hits to kill you with all armor types. Theres videos on it with data/numbers.

In its current form the flamethrower just isn't worth bringing over any of the other options. If you still want to be an arsonist you can use the fire related stratagems or get some of the fire options from the premium battlepass.
Fire-shotgun is fun and the grenades are also fire.

Flamethrower is far more useful against the bigger heavier units.
