I5-4570 CPU and Helldivers2
Hi, I was wondering if Helldivers 2 can be run on an i5-4570 CPU with a GTX 1050-ti GPU.
The GPU meets min spec but the CPU doesn't according to the listed specs. However has anyone tried it with a i5-4570 CPU?

Was it ok (- maybe by lowering some settings)?

You should be happy about those frames when it comes to HD2. Hell, 80% of the community doesn't have that without the use of unofficial framegen.

If you try it, keep your fire extinguisher next to you at all times in case of emergency.

This is the only game where my CPU consistently runs ~15-20 degrees Celsius HOTTER than my GPU, considering I play at maxed out setting on @1440p native. My GPU is literally chilling while my CPU is fighting for its life non-stop. I'm not even on the stock cooler LMAO.
Sound like an intel cpu to me lol
The "best" gaming CPU around is currently the 7800X3D, which typically draws only 65W and runs very cool because of this while topping pretty much every benchmark. Intel options simply cannot match this performance, they run hotter because they use 2-3x more power for the same workload...sure they are still fast CPUs but they are not as efficient as their rivals this time around. :waytohell:

I hate to break your supremacy tripping fantasy here but I have a 5800X
Happy that you had an opportunity to get your daily dose of fanboi spam for the day, tho!
Besides, the game pushes even the 7800X3D consistently to 75C, which is pretty crazy when you consider this is the "best" CPU on the market as you also put it.

There is something terribly inefficient in the way the game is coded to use CPU if it can push even this CPU to 70%+ usage and 75C and that's at 60FPS only...
It's wild that even @4K on Benchamrks with 4070/4080/4090 GPUs, the game is making the 7800X3D run at 10-15C hotter than the GPU (which is running at 100% and doing the bulk of the weight lifting)

Your PC will burn right off the bat

30 is too generous tbh
more like 20 fps at 720p
that is, if it launches at all

You can buy, try it out and then refund if it does not run well. Two hours will be enough to get an impression.

This is not really safe, because all of us got fooled like this. The first difficulties play fine (well not so fine considering the meh graphics, but playable), and then after days we went to 6-7 and the drops to 40 and 50 started
That's fair tbh, higher difficulties can eat up around 15-20fps, especially when there's a lot of foliage
i went from an i9 9900k with 60-110 fps to an i7 14700k with 120-160 fps... good luck with that cpu

edit: forgot to say at 1440p resolution

AM4 motherboards are a really good value right now. You should worry about getting a better CPU even before worrying about a new GPU at this point
GadafTheGreat Apr 13, 2024 @ 4:30am
MINIMUM:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 470
Storage: 100 GB available space

Looking at the minimum specs youd probably be fine on low settings. Worst comes to worse refund before you hit 2 hours if it doesnt run well.

What are your graphic settings?
During gameplay I get just over 100 with 14700k. What GPU?

You bought a anti gaming CPU, no wonder you have 50% CPU usage... 16 cores will never be used in gaming.

The Physics are to CPU demanding, your CPU Gen is very weak and you still has a DDR3 system... there is no way for a good performance.

Normally i would recommend to go on Linux, because Windows using a lot CPU Power in the background for their Spy Telemetry and HD2 runs better on Linux for that reason:

But even a i5-4570 is simple to weak for that game :(

Maybe arrowhead gets sponsorship money from AMD and Intel, the more cpu's burn, the more pleased their overlords be /s

I mean its up to you, I am not the one to tell anyone what to do, but upgrading your entire PC just to play ONE game because the devs could not optimize does not sound like a smart move.

Trying to game on something that is clearly outdated is a less smart idea and lead to frustration. I'm not saying spend thousands upon thousands but if you're a gamer, you should at least invest a little into gaming hardware to play games. Low tier/mid tier build.

Not just this game but maybe other games can be enjoyed too. It'll help in productivity too with a faster computer.

Poorly optimized or not, he doesn't even meet the min. req. To run the game.

Playing on older hardware is perfectly fine, and the smartest decision, if almost all games but ONE play fine. Why waste your money

I guess my point is, if you're a gamer you buy gaming hardware.
Same logic would apply to other hobbies or even professional jobs.

If you do wood work, you buy the tools, if the wood is too hard, you upgrade
If you're a producer you buy hardware, if new tech comes out, you upgrade
If you're a mechanic you buy tools you need, if new cars come out, you get more tools to work on them
If you're a gamer. You buy hardware to play games. I'm sure this game isn't the only game they can't play or at least close to how the developer intended it to be played.

Anyway, it depends on them. If they want to play THIS game, specifically, they need to upgrade. That's really the bottom line and no way around it. Devs aren't going to optimize this game for someone who didn't meet the minimum requirements to begin with.
