Definitely a fun mission for mortar carnage.

Mortars love to blow the doors apart when they start bombing the door trying to hit the mobs that are beating on the door.

It is like all missions 'we just did a 9 with closed doors and no breaches'. And what was spawning?

I have had 5s more difficult than 8s depending on the spawn. Had one defence that was nothing but missilers.

Now if you have a planned team all with appropriate airstrikes on good cycles to spread, then is not much issue. In which case doors open/closed do not even matter in the first place.

Doors closed means no sight lines if anything is missed by the indirect fire. And cannot use such things if stuff against the door.

If bottom gates are shut, then you lose line of sight to deploy indirect as well.

If doing that strategy, you are also then better off not even going down to bottom. Better staying at the second tier. Concentrating your fire and bombardments to be much more efficient. Able to sweep the top of the T.

My pugs seems to be pretty good compared to this list. Hope my rng on pugs keeps up.

A dead robot targets nobody. Isnt a big deal for melee bots. More bothersome for rocket stuff. Also means need to cross landing area to get line of fire, not able to use air strikes anyways, no good placement of turrets, cannot cover both directions from a single point and many more issues.

Example. EATS or other anti heavy. I shoot one direction, turn, shoot, I turn other direction. Gate closed and now I have to run to other platform if everything comes from other side.

Seriously consider. When close gates at start, they never survive to later waves when you actually need them anyways. Just a crutch.

Only time they have ever been of benefit was one defend where we were getting hulk rushed. Two hulks per dropship with not enough anti heavy. And they benefited when we closed them on 6/8. Blown up already 7/8
You get overwhelmed, then you fortify by closing the walls and run to inner defence line. I feel fortifying should have been before being overwhelmed. Besides using mortars, mines and precision weapons for destroying high value targets works very well. I mean you can actually do work defending like you say is the right way, or I can relax and just pop the big bois on occasion. I feel the latter is more appealing.

FYI, EMS Mortar and Mortar sentries rock in those defend rocket launch missions. Stun locks and follow up kills slow things down considerably. As does the Localisation Confusion booster, it seems to slow down bot drops.

I think that actually a persons' IQ has much to do with the ability to play a game. Some people can't handle anything harder than checkers. Some people play 3D chess. It's all relative.

It's the rush mentality. That's the way gamers play these days, and it's that way in every single game, get it done as soon as possible! And if you can't keep up, then you're the newb. But, some of us like the setup. Some of us like to view the environments and take it all in. Some of us like to collect the items.

I need more context for what you are commenting on.
Ye I did that mission for the first time today and used the terminal immediately as well. One guy immediately left because of that. Still won the mission easily, sooo...

Edit: just realised it was about starting early, to that I will say it could have been easier if you allowed everyone some prep time.

I started the generators, because I didn't know the bots then start dropping. Was on helldive as well.

1.First doors are gonna break on anything Lev 5+. Anything Lev 6+ and those doors become nothing more than bottleneck points. So I would get over that.
2.For many, the first doors cause graphic issues that appear as it's still there, but in pieces. With enemies still able to walk through and shoot through it. So leaving them open is preferred.
3. Anyone that uses barrages is a troll and you should ban after the match and/or kick them after seeing their choices in the mission prep.
4. I haven't been a random match yet where one person didn't immediately go to the terminal and start the mission. So I think that's fairly common. Not that there is much "fortifying" you can do regardless. Play Stratagem Hero if you are having problems with popping off sentries quickly.
