There's no way they playtested the heavy machine gun
On its own it's a ♥♥♥♥ weapon, when compared to other weapons it gets outclassed by miles.

Really what is this weapon's purpose lol

If you actually hit properly, you can take out things like hulks with only a few well placed shots. It's not a great weapon but your post guarantees you have no idea how to use it.

I used it with the light armor that has recoil reduction, still ♥♥♥♥
outclassed by every other similar weapon

Keep reading. You missed the second part.

I think I might have found the one good use-case for the HMG.

The new bot defense mission, the one that plays like Helm's Deep, with the multiple rows of gates and defensible positions as you hold out while 8 rockets get launched?

When the difficulty is high enough and Dropships are dropping nothing but medium and heavy armor stuff at you, being able to just sit atop one of the walls and spray down hate into a small confined killing zone that all the enemies funnel themselves into? Then sure, being able to just mag-dump the face of a Hulk at 50 meters away (and anything else around it) is now a viable use case in this scenario. Just drop yourself a Supply Pack, then walk back and take cover behind the impervious walls whenever you need to reload.

In any other open space scenario, I'd rather reach out and touch someone with the Autocannon.

These missions are a breeze even on helldive so yes even the hmg can be useful there

they didnt test anything thats what the players are doing lol ive been trying to say since it came out the game is barely in beta phase let alone the master piece idiots keep calling it lol

Best part is how gun have massively misaligned sights in first person, so you can't hit ♥♥♥♥ if you don't know issue in advance.
Rocketman Apr 10, 2024 @ 9:04pm
As it stands however, the weapon has 1. Too small of a magazine (75x2) 2. Too high recoil so burst is the only viable way to use it 3. Reload takes longer than even a rocket launcher. Weapon is beyond awful. I actually wouldn't mind if this weapon included a backpack that was attached to the magazine, so I can just hold in the trigger and watch the limbs fly everywhere. Belt fed LMG's like a minigun actually sound pretty badass now that I think about it. Would definitely make bringing in heavy armor that reduces recoil more viable for sure

i enjoyed it fighting bots as it can pierce walker armor. it doesn't really save the backpack slot, you really need the supply pack as it is as ammo hungry as a rednecks birthday party

1. yes it's ♥♥♥♥
2. I don't mind the recoil because I use it with the recoil armor (light armor because I like to sprint for more than a second)
3. yes it's ♥♥♥♥
4. i like the belt idea

Skill issue.
Xaelon Apr 10, 2024 @ 9:19pm
I like the idea of making it backpack fed. I dunno how good it would be, but having like 300(?) rounds and never having to reload would be pretty fun. Maybe they could make it so you could 'mount' it on cover when you're crouched and alleviate the recoil at the price of being stationary.

Both the Stalwart and the HMG need help. Given the choice between them and the LMG, I'd go with the LMG every time. That shouldn't be the case. They should be sidegrades, not outclassed.

It really just needs two things. More ammo capacity and centered sights. The weapon feels good to shoot but you do not have the ammo to sustain it. Then you have the red dot sight not being centered which makes you have to aim below the dot to land hits.

I really don't mind carrying the ammo backpack but the reload time makes me want to kms

scope issue obviously need to be fixed but I don't put this against the weapon as this is a general bug

little known fact

If you destroy both of the hulk's legs, they die as if you took out vent/eye

Which you can do with the HMG (Also the Anti-mat.)

That said the sights need to be fixed, and it needs an even 100 bullets per box imho.
Ammo economy is great with ammo backpack, because you resupply 2 spare mags per supply box from resupply/backpack, so you just shoot until you have 1 left, then go back to full.

Stalwart is bad vs bots, that's about it, though, I run it with scorcher v bugs and it gives me a primary that can kill chargers, and kill titans when their back armor is stripped.
Then I have something with high capacity that can kill literally anything smaller than them, and still have a primary that can kill armored spewers.
Literally just a learn to aim moment if you're struggling to find use with the stalwart vs bugs.
Like, absolutely, objectively, 100% a skill issue.
You can also kill hiveguards by shooting beneath their forehead and sawing off their elbows and front legs.
People pushing stalwart to be a primary again or that it's somehow bad are not to be listened to.
Also, pretty convinced you get bonus damage if you take legs off of bugs, which the stalwart easily does.
