If discord is promoted by the company as a channel for communication then dismissing it as having no impact is disingenuous.
If the volunteer decides to ban people because of discriminatory reasons (eg. not playing with a particular political ideology) that involves the company, the customer, and ruins the game.

Here's what I think. I feel like they've already done something because I heard she removed some stuff off her X account. The reason they don't want to say anything is probably because they don't want to offend any given side. If they apologize, those who support the woke ideology will be upset and start spreading the news. If they don't say anything, yes some people may get mad but at the end of the day this is a private matter between the company and it's employee. What happens doesn't need to be known cause it's none of our business. The point that the CM did wrong was already made known to arrowhead, they may have took the actions silently and that's it. No one should be fired over this but rather talked to and that's it. I don't agree or like what the CM said but let arrowhead deal with it. It's not for anyone to seek revenge.

1) You never reward bad behaviour in an effort to make it stop as it only encourages more, and worse, later.

It is your opinion. I haven't seen a single screenshot of the supposed harrassment on X, you also mentioned death threats, and if proof of this was available it'd be everywhere by now. You're exagerating just like your opposition exagerates when they say the CM hates white people and wants them dead.

Remember that whenever you exagerate any claim, all you do is give ammunition to the people that hold the opposite view to dismiss anything you say in the future.

Yeah cause the death threats got deleted. I myself didn't bother to take screenshots cause I figured it wasn't needed. But I can attest there was at least one thread on the steam forums created asking people to drop the CMs address. As I said though I didn't take any screenshots, so you'll just have to take me at my word. Do or don't, that one is your call.

The helldivers 2 discord community manager made some comments a while back that could be interpreted as racist and misandrist.

She also, more recently, stated she allows people to ask for LGBTQ+ stuff to be added to the game in the helldivers 2 discord, but will ban anyone asking for it not to be added, because this request makes them bigots, homophobes and transphobes.

She had in her profile stuff like "trans rights" and the LGBTQ+ Rainbow flag. So it appears she's welcoming members of the LGBTQ+ community, while banning those that aren't.

If she can over represent the game in their discord with members of the LGBTQ+ community all asking for Rainbow capes, with no voice of opposition, I'd say it's more than likely they'll be added.

Unfortunately the LGBTQ+ stuff can be offensive to some religious folks as same sex relationships aren't allowed in their religions. As we all should know by now, you can't discriminate against someone for their religious beliefs.

Imagine going to a restaurant when you're a vegetarian on religious grounds. You pay for your vegetarian meal in advance after hearing the chef saying they'll not serve you meat...

Only for the waitress to decide you should be eating meat and starts insulting you and even banning you from the restaurant if you refuse. People have sued restaurants for this and won.

People in the discord weren't banned simply because they didn't like the idea of LGBT flags in the game. A lot of were banned for being outright homophobic. Many people who disliked the idea weren't banned because their reason for disliking the cape were more than just "I don't like it because I don't like LGBT people" But things like "It wouldn't really fit the lore of the game since everyone is equal on super earth."

Part of my wake up call to the CM issue is Grummz has good points: if the CM decides what comments go up to developers for consideration, then it'd be quite easy to fabricate the report such that politically diverse thoughts are suppressed. The best example of this is the host kick system.

If AH implements any restrictions to the host kick due that can't handle being kicked from a game, that's already telling of the kind of politics the studio plays by. I can say what they should do from my point of view and that is remove both Spitz and Baskinator as CMs. People are really focusing on Baskinator and for good reasons, but Spitz has been awful to the community for years and he is still a CM. Some people are untouchable. However, as you have stated in the tile, they don't owe anyone anything.

This entire drama with Baskinator kind of reminded me how badly Spitz spat in the face of a lot of people, arugantly proclaiming he is the complete authority of the HD discord and he had the right to delete it, as he pleased.
