How difficult would the Illuminate be?
This is mainly for the HD1 Veterans. Compared to everything we've been fighting in HD2, how hard would it be to fight the Illuminate if/when they show up on the Galactic War Board? Super weak, below average, average, above average, super strong? Do they have shield technology similar to our shield packs? What types of weaponry do they use? I've never played HD1 so I don't know anything about them. Looking for any useful tips in case they decide to get into this war with Super Earth.

Considering they were such a pain in the ass in OG Helldivers with their ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ games. Very difficult now that we can't gauge the Scythe or Sickle's rate of fire to take down their shields

I'm curious what the range is for this type of mental attack.
I remember that attack to be fairly close, but the snipers can shoot at you from outside the screen in HD1. They also had a melee unit that hits really damn hard and can teleport away and scouts in the first game are small and invisible
So it sounds like the priority will be to kill the mind scramblers and then kill the snipers and then focus the melee units? Can only imagine all this in a Helldive 9 mission.

Maybe we can get another booster that improves mental defense against mind scrambling by like 20-30%? I already don't like the sound of these Mind Scramblers.
Don't worry. I got my tinfoil hat ready!

According to lore from the first game found on the wiki, the portable shield gen would protect against the mind scramble effects.
Personally they are the easiest as long as you know when to run and hold out. Even MG is viable end game since all their enemies do not require anti tanks, which open up most of the load out in the game.

Oh thank goodness. At least we have something to provide some limited protection against their witchcraft. Lol!

It would be nice to use the other weapons more often. I've been wanting to use the HMG for so long now.
Never played HD1 and by the sounds of it, I'm not looking forward to meeting them to be honest. Sure, they will be a change from the norm but being controlled is always annoying. Reminds me of the old X-Com when one of your team gets mind controlled, can be deadly.

In this case, at least in HD1, i think the control was limited to reversing control input for movement and stratagems.

Yes, exactly. Losing a turn because one of your squad mates loses the mental battle and succumbs to mind control was so annoying.
Ughhhh, I hope when they release they aren’t botched like how bots did insane multiplied rocket damage when one rocket hit you. I am so glad that bug has been removed.
Next, we will have some glitch which makes mind control last 5 times longer than it should for 2 weeks.
They were the most annoying enemies in Helldivers 1. They had shields, homing projectiles, long-range laser weapons, something similar to the arc blitzer, and their own version of a stalker.
You're going to find out.
