How difficult would the Illuminate be?
This is mainly for the HD1 Veterans. Compared to everything we've been fighting in HD2, how hard would it be to fight the Illuminate if/when they show up on the Galactic War Board? Super weak, below average, average, above average, super strong? Do they have shield technology similar to our shield packs? What types of weaponry do they use? I've never played HD1 so I don't know anything about them. Looking for any useful tips in case they decide to get into this war with Super Earth.

Main problems with them was - energy shields and something similar to arc weapons. Dunno how they will be here.

They've got energy shields and they can mind control you to scramble your controls.

Sounds like a lot of us might be burning through Reinforcements if we end up bunched up. Dang.

Mind Control?! How long was the effect in HD1?

The hardest weapon to deal with in their arsenal was mind confusion, that reversing all your controls for a period of time. On highest difficulty even simple scouts had this ability
Also counsil members - the tankiest MFers out there armed with, ofcourse, mind confusion.

So the mind confusion, is it the same pattern when your controls get scrambled or is it random so you can't predict/anticipate and counter it?
If it bleeds, we can kill it.

When they hit you with it, your left button becomes right button, up becomes down and so on. Same reverse is applied to calling the stratagems

In HD1 they were the WORST faction to fight, followed by the cyborgs. Bug were easy in both games.

Where the cyborgs were brute overwhelming firepower, the illuminate were more of a devious tricks kind of enemy. They generated shield walls that prevented anyone from being able to run away, they could snipe you from an insane distance, and were generally very annoying to fight. Their units weren't as tough the cyborgs, but they made up for it with disabling/CC/hindering powers basically. And they look to function the same way in HD2 based on the leaks.

I'm curious what the range is for this type of mental attack.

That sounds super annoying. I mean as long as we get the gear to be able to match their trickery or at least be able to counter it in some way.

My hd1 experience:
- The bots will kill you with laser fire.
- The bugs will kill you with tooth and claw.
- The illuminates will literally annoy you to death.

If I remember correctly, it just reverses your controls; up becomes down, and right becomes left. It only debuffs you for a few seconds.

I remember that attack to be fairly close, but the snipers can shoot at you from outside the screen in HD1. They also had a melee unit that hits really damn hard and can teleport away and scouts in the first game are small and invisible

How do you feel getting snipe by the bots?
Yeah, it's gonna be the same here plus all the new ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a psychic alien and their strange advance tech can do.

I'm gonna have to get used to scrambled controls I guess, lol.
