why doesnt use anybody use voice chat?
In most servers I've joined, nobody uses voice chat, I know that the comms thing is there, but I like comms because it is easier to plan out things with allies.

Whenever buddies aren't on I use the LFG on helldivers discord, paired up within minutes :handhorns:

I only talk if atleast 2 other people are.

im not gonna go into randoms with my mic on considering the majority wont respond outside of text anyway.

also the majority of the time im in a discord call anyway.

no one wants to hear my voice, not even me

People around me wouldn't appreciate me yelling into a mic, tried before and will not try again.

Either they lack a mic, don't feel like talking, or just never find a good time to use it. It's nothing deep really over the years I've found Voice Chat has become less commonly uses partly thanks to third party programs like Discord letting groups segregate themselves so they don't have to follow the game's TOS

*Heavy gurgling breathing*
*eating crisps by rubbing the bag into your face*
*shouts directly into mic in a language other than the chinglish i speak.*

Supposedly mine is busted. According to my friends who I play with on discord, my mic sounds fine in discord, but cuts out and sounds bad in game.

I like when people use their mic, but I don't like when they just have their mic on with all the background noise coming through, so projecting this preference onto other divers on the assumption that it's common, I keep my mic on "push to talk", which can be cumbersome to use amidst battle. This results in staying silent most of the time.

the mic on but not talking and having the entire game echo through their mic/speakers is very common.

this is enough to make me leave the group ngl. and im not that picky with teammates.

Because its a world wide game and not just American. Unless you speak multiple languages, the actual usefulness of a mic is limited. The in game coms is superior because it bypasses the language barrier completely allowing everyone to communicate in the same format.

I just mute them if they're obnoxious, unless it's the host. If the host obnoxious I'll just leave.

True. I wish the communication wheel had some more options, though. There's a lack morale boosting shouts you can do that create comradery among players. DRG has the "rock and stone" button that serves this purpose well. EDF has whole songs you can sing together.

If you are the one person with comms, I will follow your lead.
I don't mind having a leader, I prefer them having comms.

Otherwise, I just run around sneaking soloing stuff and sample rushing.
Fun stuff mostly.
