It's personal preference. That's it. That's as simple as it gets. Some people like big sandboxes where you can do whatever you want and go wherever you want, and some people like a linear story where every detail is planned out from the start. I regularly run sessions where I plan out damn near everything and I haven't received complaints, because the group I do that with enjoys that sorta style.
If you hate being railroaded, then go find a group that does sandboxes. If you get bored of having an effectively directionless campaign, go find a group that does linear stories. Everyone can be happy, and nobody needs to argue about what is the ''''correct'''' way to dm, because much to everyone's surprise, there isn't a method of dming that will please everyone.
The irony of this statement being posted in a steam forum is rich.
Is that not another word for fabricator?
No. A fabricator is (most commonly) a person, or machine, that assembles components into a larger whole.
It can also mean, someone who invents things or the purposes of (usually) deceit, often associated with criminality such as counterfeiting, although this usage is much less common in my experience. Fabrication as a noun with the same general meaning is much more common.
Neither of those apply to anything that the poster wrote.
Dun dun dun..
No wait... you probably have one.
nevermind. Hat in time, I gotta play it.
Like I said, read angrygm's posts on being a good gm if you wanna do more than just posture about holding people hostage in your games while simultaneously deluding yourself that they enjoy it, and aren't just putting up with you because they have to (since there are always more players to gms)
See I'd rather DM; but I feel like i'd suck at it. Not knowing ♥♥♥♥ about D&D doesn't help.
Sort of is. There are other systems than DND that use no to little stats. And Scifi. Etc.
