Stop shooting down every single bot dropship with the quasar
SOMETIMES ITS HELPFULL YES I AGREE, because you can get them robots stuck and buy yourself some time, BUT only when they are far away.... YOU ARENT DELAYING ANYTHING IF THEY ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO SHOOT AT US

Shooting down dropships hides every single devastator, hulk and tank bellow the ship model, but they can shoot at you from behind it, the also dropship can protect them from stratagems like the eagle rockets, the orb railgun and spear rockets + some others that could easily kill them

Also you are far more likely to kill enemies if you shoot the dropship as soon as it arrives before the bots jump down, so its way better to use RR or EAT to take them down because of the quasar charge up time

If you want to shoot down a dropship think:

> is the dropship too close to me or my teammates?
> has the dropship already dropped all of the enemies and is about to fly away

if the awnser to both is no then you shoot, if the awser is yes then dont shoot

edit: reworded entire post because it was too long and people were only reading the title and a example i gave where somebody shot a dropship when it was already leaving and it almost crashed on me (no i wasnt standing under it)

I think if youre going to shoot a DS, you need to be quick on the draw and shoot it asap rather than as its dropping its cargo, otherwise, like OP says, the Bots get free cover from pretty much anything that isnt an explosive Stratagem.

If you don't coordinate with your team, you shouldn't be playing the game.

i do coordinate, what are you on about? am i the one that has to read the minds of the quasar players?

Dont think I have ever dropped these on someone before. If you are under it you are probably in trouble already since its dropping a hoard on you, gth out of that spot. Lot of ways to fight them, getting right under it is not in the top 5 imo.

Guess it depends on who is shooting these down and with what though. Since i usually use quasar, I pull it out a little after they tell me the ship is coming but before I even see it and start charging shot, then I drop it right before it drops guys or right after and either way it 'usually' kills most all of them.

I agree there is no point once it starts flying away except for the satisfaction of taking it out.

Trade off between 2 quasars each shot and a couple guys can make the extract civs missions fairly trivial depending on level.

someone shoots the dropship as it is leaving

dropship almost hits me

I already wrote that but he asks me again "why was i standing under the dropship"

If you dont read the full post then you shouldnt be participating
1: it kills almost all the enemies, I have rarely seen any enemies other than hulks or tanks survive
2: it actually allows you to destroy the cargo on more dropships as you dont need to worry about the one i shoot down anymore
3: if i pay attention and start pre-charging it, it can be faster than shooting the cargo

1: all devastators survive most of the time
2: only helpful if you shoot it down far away enough that the bots cant shoot at you from behind the crashed dropship
3: correct

I would recommend using the grenade launcher or autocannon to destroy the cargo on the dropships in the future as it allows you to do it at a more significant distance, and generally quicker too

1: in my previous 5 matches, i only saw one devastator survive once so either you are really unlucky or i am really lucky
2: if they are all dead, they cant shoot us.

Then why is this even a topic in the first place? If people are complaining about incapable of destroying everything onboard a Dropship, then it at least there's a "Better" way to go about it. Taking a Quasar Cannon for such Missions like Evacuations is absolutely powerful and taking out ships at the very least renders the Raiders at least dead, perhaps not Devastators at the very least but one shop alone doing that makes it potent. It also causes a blockade (Although terribly due to collision) but it either glitches out the surviving enemies or traps them under the wreckage.

Originally posted by Barnables:
I think that would make the game too eazy, if a dropship falling on top of the enemies killes everything then you should need to take out 2 engines not just one

Then people would complain about about why Dropships are not dying because they aren't capable of bringing it down. And this ain't even on the Quasar Cannon either, it'll affect the other Anti-Tank options too. It becomes pointless to even try anymore and this even makes certain missions near impossible and brings back the contention that players hated for a while when the first Evacuation Missions popped up, too many enemies dropping in. Then we are forced to bring Sentries all over again.

There's no easier balancing here without affecting the other and causing repercussions in the process. If it weakened the heavier armored, I'd be on board but it doesn't do that either, you certainly expect a Tank dropping from such a high relevation would be rendered immobile or be one shot away if a dropship landed on it. Or a Hulk being crippled in some manner, or something that would bring whatever's onboard into "Bleeding".

The reward of stopping a Dropship should be clear because we are able to take it down, or never intended to in the first place if enemies don't die or severely affected by its crash, let alone crushed under it. What is the point then?

The answer should make the Dropship viable to take down than to ignore it. Otherwise it makes the game more difficult because we let it drop its reinforcements and then it becomes Genre of Bullet Hell.

heavy devastators always survive from what i seen, as far as the rest, it depends when the dropship is shot down, if its shot down early you can kill preety much almost everything, but if you shoot it down very late, you arent doing mutch and they will survive
