Game of the Year?
It seems like Helldivers 2 has that Community like magic that Halo 2 had. Despite the issues, flaws and out of game drama of, you know?..

It'd holding up unbelievable numbers based on the type of game it is. I would be shocked if it didn't get Game of the Year

I sure hope not

Definitely has potential for GOTY, it’s got the player base and a solid foundation, but depending on how good other releases are I think Helldivers 2 might need some more time in the oven to compete. With more content drops expansions and with whatever they end up doing with the war system they can definitely secure that spot if you ask me. It’s a bit early to tell but so far they are a strong contender.

Nah.

It might clinch the live service but even that's doubtful.

Definitely a top contender. I'd say yes.

I don't know about game of the year, but I can definitely see it winning some awards.

I can't really think of any other big releases coming up, but I'm not really super into videogames as much these days.

I'm sure it's gonna win something in one of the smaller categories at least.

can be absolutely

Trying to think of other contenders for GOTY and I'm struggling. Only other game I saw people go nuts over was CS2 and that hype has definitely waned.

It all comes down to if the devs pay enough political obeisance to the people controlling the awards. While the devs themselves are crassly Leftist (or at least the people moderating their forums are), the concept of the game itself is what a stupid person would think is conservative. So I don't know if it will pass the filter.

Based strictly on the game itself though, it's a shoo-in. Even with the technical issues HD2 gets so many things exactly right and has invented several new gaming concepts all by itself.

I guess we'll find out if I'm right.

Award(s). 100%. Too early to call Game of the Year, but I think it's in the spotlight for it.

Gameplay wise, this game is amazing, it really is something special.

But honestly, with all the technical problems, old, fixed, new ones still plaguing this title, it should not win any such awards.

ABSOLUTELY NOT, because of their terrible stability, malware anti-cheat, and no support from devs.

You got me on the stability... But Malware and No support? Come on dude... The game would be dead if that was the case and there wouldn't have been a single attempt to patch the game.

Their mistake was no re-building the game on a different engine... But you know how much that costs? How much of a setback that'd be?

The Release Version was Game of the Year for me BY FAR. Nearly two weeks of endless Fun in Solo or Multiplayer. you can clearly see the LOVE the Devs pumped into this game!

I do understand that this game was optimized for Release and i get why it is more important to pump out content other than taking a whole week for Optimization afterwards. It is clear to me that Optimization is costly and time intensive!

but after all these "Balance" Patches to simply underline Warbond Gear, instead of buffing the Gear in a game with ENDLESS enemy reinforcements, this game falls completely apart on the technical side:

The Benchmarks are more awful with every Patch, the Loading Screens are still able to brick High End Systems and the overall Performance, Network and Server Stability included, doesnt even make me want to leave a positive Review.

It needs Optimization and someone should also please look into how Gameguard works with High End CPUs. Most unstable Game of the Year!

Not even close. It's a good game, but if this becomes GOTY this is a clear sign the game industry is actually screwed.
