Cities
Please give us cities with enemy wave based instances of 15 Helldivers having to escort citizens from their homes to a much larger "Senate/council" building in the middle of the city for protection and fend off an invasion, if the opposing forces break in and kill the senators they lose. I'm imagining much like the Theed battle in Battlefront 2.

Urban worlds in general with different mission types would be nice. Being dropped in to hold a breach in a wall against terminids trying to swarm past you to break into the city proper like you're holding the line at Augustgrad would be cool.

Dealing with civilians is more expensive in the long-run than nuking the planet.

Seconded, but I can imagine that it would be quite a lot of work for the devs to pull off. A city biome would be vastly different from the existing ones, from assets, to generation, to AI behaviour. I doubt we'll see it in this invasion (though I am holding out hope) but maybe in the future? Even if its just for special events, urban fighting could be a very neat change of pace

As far as I know most player struggle to hold a decent number of frames on the higher difficulties especially on jungle planets.

I guess they tried to avoid city maps for that very reason to save performance. Engines like UE5 may be capable of displaying giant open world cities with good frames (via NANITE) but AHs engine is outdated (under the hood in terms of capabilities) and going overboard with the presentation is always a bad idea.

But I agree Cities would be great. I just don’t think we get to see giant cities any time soon.
I'd love to see a run down urban locations on cities yeah, I'd be all for this. To add variety to the game.

My assumption is that we've been primarily fighting out on sparsely populated fringe colony worlds towards the edge of SE territory, and planets closer to Super Earth ought to be more densely populated.

They've had 100 years since GW1 to grow colonies.

On the other hand, you could argue that Helldivers are not the only branch of the military and that defense and engagements on more populated worlds are left to more conventional military forces already stationed there. Helldivers by intent, are only deployed into remote regions that conventional forces won't establish a beachhead on.
Wow. I never played this first Helldivers but the difference in graphics reminds me of the glow up that XCOM 2 saw compared to XCOM EU/EW.

Cities could be rad, but I'm worried about the framerate. Think about streets in Tarkov.
