Not the only thing in the game that is objectively inferior to things you unlock later. Like say the Gattling Sentry is objectively better than the Machinegun Sentry.

The redeemer is literally the only sidearm choice.
Don't pick anything else.
I mean Redeemer operates better than every AR and SMG by itself.

the grenade launcher pistol is probably gonna be the only thing to actually challenge the redeemer's spot and that's solely because it can blow up bug holes/automaton factories.

It has no advantages over the do not Redeemer. The game only has 4 pistols, it shouldn't be hard to give the Peacemaker a niche. Solutions:
+Increase its damage, It should do more damage per shot than the Redeemer.
+Increase its total amount of magazines.

i actually prefer the machinegun sentry over the gattling.

MG stops firing when its rotating, Gattling CHEWS through ammo even when its rotating and acquiring new targets.
MG will last longer overall than Gattling, and thats a nice thing to have since both turrets are stupid and shoots at armored targets anyways and the MG gives you more time to "correct" that behavior by taking care of the beefy guys, thus letting it do its job of shredding infrantry.

tbh I knew there were differences but I've never really used them enough to know what they are. If someone brings a MG/gatling I bring autocannon sentry, etc.

Does the MG have AP? I kind of assumed gatling would be ex: stalwart characteristics but MG would be machine gun secondary characteristics.

"muh ammo" isn't even that big of a deal. Just set it to semi auto and use it to clean out every light bug or bot on the screen. It's better than the Liberator at this.

Best thing is that It only gets better late game where running a Supply Pack to feed your Scorcher + support weapon gets incredibly viable. Now you actually get to spray whenever you want to.

with two simple changes it would be in the perfect middle spot between the redeemer and senator (although the senator itself needs some love)

-buff damage, it has to be more than redeemer but less than senator
-remove redeemers semi auto (currently its just there to completely invalidate peacemakers existence, if you want to commit to the box 'o bullets fully commit to it)

Exactly.
Better than the Knight SMG, too. Maybe on-par with the Defender.

It's really as easy as you've illustrated. Dunno why other people struggle with it.

I wish devs would lean into that a bit more. Say, by giving it more ammo. Right now I believe it only adds up to a few seconds of extra machine gunning compared to the gatling.
and now with the upcoming grenade pistol it will be used even less

knowing the devs they are going to nerf the redeemer before buffing the peacemaker

It's pretty unhinged, yes. I think if nothing else the peacemaker should have way more total damage than redeemer and most other secondaries. It seems like the devs don't want even primaries to be very good at all though, so nothing will probably be done.
