How are you meant to deal with Hunters?
I know they die in like 3-4 hits from a shot gun, but my god they kill you in 2-3 hits, slow on hit and jump at you. I've yet to figure out how the hell to kill em.

Shoot them before they get close.
Use area clearing stratagem before they get close.
Run.
Use scout armor and sneak around the map avoiding encounters.

Sickle, 1-2 Shots he dead... Sickle has many shoots before relorad... many dead Hunters... Sickle even hurts Stalkers if shoot in the Mouth/Head... u should ask urself... how do i kill Spewers.... they are the manace

There's not much one can do, you just need to do crowd control and watch out for the nests and reinforcements. The best thing one can do is just not alert the patrols along the way to objectives because you never know who's going to call in another bug drop.

Unless you are barely clipping them most shot guns kill them in 1 or 2 hits while things like assault rifles or smgs kill them 3-7 depending on where you hit them. What is really scary is Stalkers because the damage percentages to some spots on their body is screwed up so if you want to kill them in a reasonable amount of time you need to hit the head which can be hard due to them being quick and the head being kind of small on them.

shoot them in the head pretty much any gun is a 1 tapper to the dome

Muscle Enhancer Buff reduces the slow duration. When pounced on, do a dive, stim and quick swap to your secondary, the SMG. Also bring the SMG secondary. Redeemer I think, its called.

and as Hirukaen said, Scoutarmor vs. Bugs.... u need the stamina for running... a bug near u is a bad bug...

Dominator is a 1 shot most of the time.
Stun nade is pretty handy for large growds of them.
Shoot their face up close should be a 1 shot with most shotguns as well.

3-4 hits from a shotgun?

Do you mean the stalkers?
Aim for center mass cause there ain't no way it takes 3-4 shotgun rounds to kill em. Back when I used breaker it was always a 1 shot to the head/chest area within 8m. Same for dominator, except it does it at any distance. Redeemer on full auto also clears up to 3 hunters in front of you in an emergency if you full auto magdump and land shots that count.

If you need to run away you can pull out your secondary and shoot them while walking
Kappatalism Apr 8, 2024 @ 2:00pm
If hunters get too close, use your redeemer as you run/dive away from them. Try not to mag dump if you need a reload before you finish dealing with them, it adds so much time rechambering on a long reload. Just get the last kill you're certain you can secure and start your reload immediately as you focus on surviving. (swivel your head when you can't shoot, don't corner yourself on awkward terrain or run into a bigger threat).

Spam dives if you've been hit, if you don't have an attack animation headed your way when you land you can stim. If you do, don't delay your next dive.

@Regis

Sickle also sucks balls - Leaves on shrubs say haha u gun is usless now.
Any kind of foliage renders the gun in-effective, it also lacks any form of stopping power against even the slightest of armor, usually team killing from ricochette. Even the liberator level 1 divers are supplied with are more usefull than sickle users. Just tired of bugs. Bring Automatons back, game instantly better that way.

I mean I'm not filled with confidence, basically the MAJOR advice seems to be, in a horde shooter Starship troopers style game, be very stealthy to avoid fights. Yes I know people have also said shoot at distance and AOE stratagems, but that is what we are doing and it only goes so far when a horde of them is coming non stop in among spewers, chargers, biotitans, and all the other stuff, eventually you will get swarmed UNLESS you actively avoid as much fighting as possible, and is that is the main strat then it sounds like a big balancing issue.

Bugs in general just feel like for how tanky they are and how much damage they do there are WAY to many that swarm you, the flamer can kill the smallest little ones in about 2-3 seconds of fire, but a hunter will take about 4-5, easily enough to have jumped on you, taken 1/3rd of your health, knocked you over, and slowed you down.

I'm just looking forward to Automatons, we were doing suicide missions for them and winning while having fun, Termanids we are back on hard and just frustrated.

More like 1 hit. They have about 110ish hp, but like all enemies each individual hit location has its own HP pool, which is why you can shoot them multiple times without killing them.

Unless you are confusing Stalkers for Hunters. Stalkers, the invisible ones, obviously have more HP. But you can one shot each hunter with a shotgun easily.

By understanding how they work. Hunter's try to flank you. If you aim directly at them, they jump side to side, trying to get outside of roughly a 90° cone of vision from you. You can manipulate this behavior, by deciding which direction they will jump for them. They will jump in the direction that is shortest to get them outside your vision cone, so they can flank you.

So if you want them to skip left, you aim at their right side. If you want them to skip right, you aim at their left.

Only times they come directly at you, is if they are in "charge" distance. That is when they will jump at you.

When they get into flanking position, they will advance, just like they will advance if surrounded by other bugs (including other hunters).

Kill the closet bug to you, by trying to move backwards and keep them from flanking. Be aware that they will skip right or left when you aim at them and hold your fire until they side-skip, then kill them at the end of their skip. They do have a short cooldown before they can skip again. If you are aware of how they skip, you can nail them in the brief window after they skipped, as they will be immobile for a second.

When they are on top of you... change to your sidearm and high volume of fire. Sidearms are more easy to aim, faster to reload (unless you dropped with the Senator)
