Hunters are a bit much.
i think the new balance generally feels good in terms of enemy spawn density. im not getting hit with a wall of chargers anymore out of the blue which is nice.

but uh... hunters are just too much....

it is quite literally impossible to keep track of them all in a fight. the sheer number of them now with the new balance in spawn numbers makes bugs an unrelenting nightmare. there is literally nothing you can do to keep yourself alive.

because of hunters. the fact they can jump from a mile away onto you, deal 30% give or take of your health bar WITH the vitality booster. AND have a slow is just... too much... even with the shieldpack, there is zero forgiveness for a hunter slipping past your notice to the side which they love to do. even if you arent dealing with a mountain of heavies now. 20 hunters spawn in a breach and walk around to encircle you and you have to take your eyes off the bulk of the enemy swarm to pick them off slowly one by one. and if a single one manages to jump on top of you they can kill the shield from the shieldpack in two hits which a single hunter can spam the tongue lash and do on its own almost in the time it takes you to spin around and shoot it.

they have too much, theyre dodgy, theyre fast, they have high damage. and they can slow you for 1.5 to 2 seconds if you get hit. the only thing they DONT have is survivability either through armor or health numbers.

and im fully aware there are weapons and stratagem call ins to clear "Trash" and mob swarms but the only helps you against them if the hunters are all grouped up which they dont like to do. sure you can clear the horde fro mthe breach easy enough but you still have to look around for the hunters which can still jump on you while you clear the main body of the breach.

it just feels a little.... i dunno i guess out of pocket. like the bugs are supposed to rely on numbers to beat you, not cheap cheese

EDIT: people seem to be misunderstanding what im saying. im not saying that hunters are impossible to fight period. i am saying they turn fighting the bugs into a game of pseudo instant death because once they get ON YOU it is damn near impossible to escape or do anything because of all the crap crammed into their design. all of the other bugs are uniquely engaging in some way. hunters just exist to spite the player and do so in the most unfun way possible.

between the high attack speed for their tongue lash which inflicts the slow and the high mobility they have both jumping and walking and the low visibility of them because theyre so small it is a game of perpetual whackamole where the moles have a gun and if you dont wack them fast enough you just get death spiralled. because while youre trying to run and pick up your support gear again whatever youre taking, youre relying on your primary to clear EVERYTHING and PRAYING the respawn (in the case of a teamwipe) or your teammate puts you away from the horde and near your weapons and body.

remove the slow and hunters are damn near perfect. they still punish you for tunnel vision but it isnt a death sentence for ONE of them to touch you. they shouldnt have the slow in the first place, why does an enemy with ultra high mobility have a 2 second slow in their kit. if their job is to harass you while the other bugs can close the distance they can already do that with the jumping and running speed they have

they are severely annoying to the point im quitting until a new enemy pops up. hunters, and spitters are the bane of mu existence. i dodge spitter 99% of the time but that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow debuff gets no matter how good i am at dodging then i get swarmed and combo'd by those annoying hunters. i miss the robots, cause i literally refuse to fight the bugs with how annoying they really are. i find 0 enjoyment in it.

yer they are such a bad design and when we told devs this they turned them up lol ive never seen such trolling in all my gaming days ahahaha! bugs went from being super fun to being sooo bad in the short time the game has been out and this is them fixing it hahaha! Have the bring back the bots posts started yet?

your last statement negated your complaint though. The bugs do use numbers to win, hence why you get 20+ hunters at any given time. Shoot them and stalkers first, rest can be out run or cheesed, /thread.

Mostly because if the bugs were any easier you'd be amongst the " BUgZ are TOO E Z, lul.." crowd.

Eventually you'll notice, that every once in a while you're fighting something else. The game spawns a single hunter. Not part of a breach, or patrol, just one hunter...

Right behind you.

You have to use the Laser Rover Backpack, It especially helps if you stick together with teammates with the same. a couple lasers and some spray from a breaker and you are clearing hordes of hunters with ease. Impact nades also help

except it doesnt negate my statement. if the hunters were just relying on numbers theyd have no slow or poison effect and they wouldnt deal 30% of your healthbar. theyd be "interference" type enemies that make you check your shoulders because the hit stagger is already a big enough problem when you get flanked. you literally CANNOT run from hunters once they get on top of you. they are very obviously programmed to wait until youre either getting hit or about to get hit which means a hunter swarm all dive on you near simultaneously and wait for the same moment to pounce.

once one of them hits you. all of them get to hit you because its next to impossible to dodge their tongue lash which slows. theyre an instant death sentence type enemy. it is pure cheese. "you got hit once so now you cant move and i can spam the same attack on you"
Uwak Apr 8, 2024 @ 2:35pm
the number one strategy is to have your allies stop throwing you directly in the middle of insect hordes.... impact grenades do great. Hunters are a genuine threat but by themselves they aren't a problem as they die in a few shots.... however spitters can soak up entire magazines and they can 'track' you while spitting.

No matter what you're going to die, focus objective and then dont worry about making it back :P

it both is and isnt a skill issue. you can ATTEMPT to counter them out and may even have a modicum of success. i have as well. even solo. theyre still a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ enemy design and are horrendously annoying to fight. theyre in effect the new charger spam.

theyre the only bug with advanced tactics programmed into their behavior (deliberately evading and flanking around you)

they have a slow,

they have high damage

they have good innate mobility AND a gap close to jump on you.

they attack insanely fast and have no cooldown between attacks which means they can chain spam stagger you with only a single hunter with the tongue lash. theyre a bad design. it goes beyond their numbers or how to fight back against them.

just shoot them

the hunters are the mini stalker looking dudes. about the size of the normal grunt bugs. they have little health but spawn in large waves and groups, they jump and fly briefly at you and do the tongue lash which slows if it hits you
