So, after we had the debacle with the community manager, several games "journalist" outlets almost immediately published articles that essentially went: "Helldivers 2 is fascist, but at least it's a lot of fun!"

This is basically the next escalation, and the prelude to their next attack on Helldivers. After the attempt to stuff LGBT politics into the game didn't work, they're pivoting to try and smear the game and by extension the developers. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY CREDENCE. If you meet anyone talking about having read this, make sure to correct them. Make sure your friends who play are aware that they are trying to do this.

While i am not going to get into the detailed political analysis (because frankly this isn't the place for it) you have to be either completely politically illiterate, or ill-intentioned to think that Helldivers is actually fascist.

I urge everyone to reject these baseless attempts to ruin a great game that we all enjoy, and to keep the game free of any other politics than managed democracy. This is meant to be a place for fun, not political activism.

Basically, to the best of my knowledge, one of the CMs decided to make statements that Helldivers had always been woke, and they were only banning transphobes, homophobes, etc. from the Discord. After that her social media very quickly went dark. Now, we don't really know a lot of details other than that, which has of course led to a bunch of speculation. However, the event served as a catalyst, and the games press seized on it and all posted hit pieces in unison.

It's because Grifters from both sides of the spectrum realized how profitable it is to pander and peddle this never-ending political drama / conflict all for the sake of gaining fame / notoriety and subsequently money and power.

In fact I heard that all this CM nonsense was intentionally started by some lowlife third-rate game developer who was fired from all his past jobs and now he's reveling in the public attention he craves and succeeded in promoting his current lackluster boring indie game to the anti-woke mob because of this political drama.

Long story short: White supremacists are accusing the CM who is a white woman of being racist towards white men because she said that she as a white person should stop talking because she wanted to hear from what black people think instead. And this was actually a tweet / x post from 4 years ago.

First off, WIki's can generally be edited by anyone, they are not a reliable source of information. Second off, this still doesn't make any difference to his credibility. Was the information he cited accurate and properly source? this is the only thing that matters.

Oh it definitely is coordinated. The games press routinely release articles that parrot each other, to a degree that wouldn't be possibly organically. While i don't know about patriotism, Helldivers 2 steps on a lot of AAA toes by making a game that is far better in quality and entertainment value, at a much lower budget. They're basically exposing the rot in the AAA industry just by existing. On top of that, since the devs said they wanted the game to be politically neutral, it's pissing off all the activists who don't want us to be able to have our escapism, and want to inject politics into everything.

So there's definitely some organized interests who don't like this game.
