Nothing, what ever you use will be nerfed in the future.

Kill them with kindness.
LAS-16 Sickle

I have VERY limited experience fighting the bugs as up until this point I've only fought on the Automaton front but I've heard the Liberator series of weapons are pretty good against the bugs

Visual studio. Getting good at coding will ensure very few bugs will be left in the game. Gotta eradicate them at the source.

Sickle is S tier on temp and cold planets.

Liberator and Breaker are good choices against bugs too.

Sickle, breaker vanilla and inciendiary, also the lightning one.

It all depends on your support weapon. If you are machine gun player like me you can take some weapons killing medium armor enemies like the Scorcher. If you prefer other support weapons you should use some wave clearing weapons that can kill small bugs fast in large amounts.

I prefer the defender smg but there are better options

The incendiary shotgun received a 50% buff to DOT damage. It is great against bugs now.

Sickle, Liberator, and Defender are all solid picks that only struggle with a few enemies, enemies that many of the support weapons and stratagem call-ins are good against. I know a lot of people like shotguns, but they never seem to have good enough ammo economy for me

But it does depend on what the rest of the loadout looks like and if you can rely on your teammates to cover for any weaknesses in your build. Like if you are running around with a Stalwart, you might want a medium pen primary instead of a weapon that is basically the primary slot's Stalwart-equivalent.

It's painful how accurate that is. Take Slugger and Arcthrower for example. Perfectly fine weapons with strengths and weaknesses(Slugger wasn't great if you let yourself get swarmed and it's a waste on anything below warriors and such; but plenty powerful against staggering ♥♥♥♥ left and right. Arcthrower was great for ranged and penetrating through armored targets(7-9 shots on a Hulk in the general area of the head, 5-6 on a charger); but it has like a 20% to catch on angled/rocky/planty terrain; and the way the arc trajectory chaining works could put other Helldivers at risk of being one-tapped) got slammed with nerfs.

All you can do is hop the weapon train and expect your favorite weapons to get knee-capped.

Having just tested it, I don't think I'd include the Lib-Pen in the group of recommendations. Medium pen just isn't worth it when hunters are probably the biggest/most common threat this type of primary should deal with and honestly the medium armor enemies can be killed pretty easily without medium pen.

I don't have the Lib-C yet, but it always gets mentioned whenever there's a "what is the worst gun in the game?" -contest.

Dude it got buffed. You can stunlock Chargers with the Arcthrower

Breaker. It's ammo hungry, but handles well and takes care of business. Learn to prioritize targets and don't use the breaker for things it's not designed for. (I.E. kill hunters and stalkers with it, use other weapons for other things)
