And I'm sure that eventually, when I get good enough, I'll play the stupid high difficulty mods, or not. But dumping 40 tanks on my head won't solve the issue that this game's maps are just documentaries about tourist destinations with barely anything interesting happening in them. The locations, I think, are randomly generated. They have 0 world building. The enemy emplacements are just shoved in there, randomly. And it's always just... You open up a text box, and there is like one line of text saying
"Super Earth hates aliens, and you are dumb". Like what the ♥♥♥♥ is this. No weapons descriptions. No interesting ship interiors. No interesting enemy locations. You never go into like an automaton industrial complex. You're always just blowing up their stupid outposts. Even though the planet is supposed to be swarming with them. And you don't even get to see any interesting human settlements.
Like in the trailer you see aliens attacking human houses, and I know this was a propaganda piece. They probably won't ever get there, cause they aliens are probably actually relatively passive. We just pissed them off. But can we at least get like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Mars city to fight in. Or something? Not just... Walking around freaking... Naturalistic setpieces that are for some reason completely devoid of wildlife, but have almost 0 buildings in them.
There weren't day 1 patches because developer houses actually cared to release a functional game, not like these greedy developers who keep releasing broken games BUT with shop and microtransactions fully functional.
I'd trade back then with today, any time. None of the developers have any sort of passion left on doing games just greed, money and lies.
DRG is the exact same type of game and just like HD2, DRG is also considered overrated by people who are not objective coop games oriented.

I honestly kinda understood video games like these probably don't have very high story aspirations. But I still wanted to express my relative disappointment
Now I'm very curious how you accomplished that.
I invite you to ponder a bit further as to why this game is so surprisingly popular given its "mediocrity".
Probably wrong, but me thinks it just fills a market niche that never went away and were able to create a game of nearly AAA quality without the perils of the bureaucracy money brings.
In short. What other game did this?
Also, yes please add the car sooner. They're adding an apc which is a whole 'nother thing.
