Scorcher Underwhelming??

Does anyne feel like the last tier weapon "Plas-1 scorcher" feels really underwhelming? You need to spend at least around 1280 medals just to unlock it, and the gun just feels really weak, hell! even the dominator is much easier to get and is 3x better than it! What are your thoughts?

I love it. Its accurate, long ranged, and easy to use. It can kill walkers in the face in 3 shots. Sometimes less. The recoil is negligible.

I personally hate the dominator and its recoil.

Scorcher can kill every bot and has range and precision of a sniper. So why underwhelming?

its great for bots, and just decent against bugs..
Each weapon have their strenght and weakness against enemy types..

That's the oddity with the Scorcher. I know why I use it, I know exactly how effective it is against its targets... but it does somehow feel very weak.

The mag feels too small (it always feels like it's running dry too quickly) and it doesn't feel powerful.

I think it's partly the feeble sound and visual design, when you pull the trigger it looks and sounds like a toy. Also probably the low stagger, nothing seems to care when it gets hit by the scorcher until the second it falls over dead, there just isn't any real feedback on hitting enemies.

So yeah, it does feel underwhelming... yet it actually performs well.

Scorcher is all you need for bots, can kill tanks even just hitting the turret sides near the back, can take out gunships by spraying at them, kills hulks to the heatsinks, kills anything else around with relative ease. Against bugs it melts bile spewers, takes out charger backsides in a mag, and breaks the tile bitan sacks.

I tend to prefer it over the dominator given it's more responsive and the explosive damage bonus is nice.

The Dominator looks superior in every way on paper, but in practice it usually isn't.

The big performance differentiator comes down to the Explosive stat. The Dominator can exceed the performance of a Scorcher if all you hit are the weak spots, but the explosive nature of the Scorcher (and Plasma Shotgun) means that overall these weapons are more consistent in their shots to kill parameters.

The problem is that with certain targets, it becomes exceedingly difficult to either hit them, or hit them where it hurts. So for example a Devastator, the Dominator will get downed by a single headshot, but when it comes to bodying the target, it is far easier for a Scorcher to land 3-4 body hits.

Probably because it doesn't stagger. It has explosions but it doesn't stagger. So it doesn't feel like its doing anything till the enemy falls over dead.

The thing about the Scorcher is that I don't think it ricochets unlike normal bullets and that's the key when you're shooting something that's labeled explosive. So while the Dominator might look better on paper that soft stat alone is pretty powerful to consider.
