PSA: Burning DoT Not Working for Non-Host
At least for bots. I've not tested bugs but from memory I do recall feeling like my flamethrower only dealt damage if I was actively hosing them and for the longest time I thought the breaker incendiary was useless because the burning did nothing but kill teammates. Oh that reminds me this only applies to enemies for some reason, you can set players on fire and they die as normal (petition to lower player fire damage taken until this is fixed lol)

After extensive testing (20 games of not being the host all with different hosts) I think I can safely conclude while fire damage itself is working perfectly fine burning DoT applied by anyone who is not the host is not working at the moment.

I tested the breaker incendiary and the flamethrower (so who knows maybe the napalm strike and grenades work, didn't test them because I don't like either of them anyway) bot failed to kill anything when set on fire with minimal damage applied. When I was the host a single pellet from the breaker igniting an enemy killed them in a second or two, a burst of flame from the flamethrower lighting them on fire would have the same results.

This is frankly unacceptable give how much damage the player takes from being on fire and how good these options should be even against bots because let me tell you the flamethrower ♥♥♥♥♥ bots up if you are the host, it merely does okay and isn't worth the close quarters and potential of self ignition if you aren't the host.

Obviously the jerk-offs at Arrowhead don't read the forums so this will never get to them but for anyone feeling like they aren't doing as much damage as they should be rocking the incendiary breaker because someone told them it was really good (for the host it slaps hard) this is why.

Pretty much everything atm is desyncing, from all things incendiary to gas, to drop-pods landing on enemies and not killing them unless youre the host.
One of the funnier jokes on discord has someone try landing on a Drop-Ship and not dealing damage and all the enemy automatons were standing around ready to punch him.

Even the moderators have seen it, and it doesnt get forwarded to the devs or anything.
They remain ignorant to the issue.

Thats what they get for not putting things in their patch notes.
How are we supposed to know that this is a bug from the 8 year out-of-date engine thats getting no support.

Oh it is entirely the game not liking the entire "host" system. Playing alone and playing with others drastically changes the dynamics of the game. It is 100% a desync issue which is why some players such as yourself report different results.

I have also heard reports that the host DoTs do nothing while others work as intended.

Can confirm from my testing that the DoT from Breaker Incendiary, Orbital Gas Strike and Eagle Napalm are inredibly inconsistent. Sometimes they work and other times they do nothing. Didn't find any consistencies with being the host, playing solo, etc. Seemingly random.

In my 20 tests as non-host every single time it did not work. I have no idea what causes the inconsistencies as I do not have a group that is interested in testing which would allow me to test variables like: If the host has the same loadout does that make it work differently? In all 20 of my matches the host did not have any DoT damage in their loadout, do with that info what you will.

It's not that they don't listen, it's that every single line of communication is clogged up with capes and "this game is too woke" nonsense. The steam reviews will soon be clogged with the same. They're literally drowning out every channel.

Players don't actually want this game fixed. Twitter to discord to steam forums to their own support ticket system... all jammed up with completely unrelated junk.

Christ. I still think the devs don't have their heads screwed on tightly enough though... a lot of these balance passes and the reasoning for em are... silly.

And even with that being said, there's a lot of repeated 'known issues' in these notes that really should have been handled by now..

It's also worth mentioning that they're probably patching both retroactively as well as for 3 content drops in advance, etc. We still have (at least) two mechs, a truck, an airburst rocket, a whole other faction, ... a lot of stuff coming. They have to straddle that without leaking.

But yeah I feel like a lot of this stuff is barely tested. They should have a PBE since everyone keeps modding in the new new anyway.
