Traitor mechanic is stupid
Why are there enemies and their installations right on the "traitor" map edge? You can't go around them on that side because you'll become traitor. Sometimes the enemies even cross this edge....

Devs, if you are going to make a "traitor" edge, you need to put a large margin of nothing before it is reached.

Why wouldn't enemies be able to cross the edge of the map lol?

Well, a lot of the time it involves them sprinting across the ocean like Jesus. So it is a lazy mechanic in every game that does it, as usual.

Soft walls, solid invisible walls, a giant cliff you can't climb. None of that is as annoying as enemies that get to ignore it. "Oh look guys, a tank parked outside the traitor zone but still shooting at us during an ion storm. Wow, they 'not allowed to kill an enemy right now' even more boring!"

But, well... bragging about how much you love mere inconvenience is easier than actually being good at games or game design. Like how a lot of people were convinced the old randomizer was a good idea, while more honest gamers admitted "Mashing out DDD until airstrike jackpots on orbital a dozen attempts later is just a waste of time. do you like phone games or something kid?"

Would you rather have invisible walls or die instantly after 10 seconds?

This is very well made "stay in bounds" system that fits the games theme.

Sometimes i just run offmap on purpose, to get those 380 barrage for free and then dive headfirst into the thickest enemy cluster.

Killcoutner goes BRRRRR!

Also it fita the dystopian narrative.
You are the helldiver. The hero of the federation. totally brainwashed (listen how they yell "democracy is here!" when they land) and cry for their mama when the first shells come down.
Reality is, you go there, kill bots, Noone cares if you die. Especially not high command. Just big speeches while you are being chopped to pieces.
I hate it when I come down and it immediately says I'm out of bounds.

I already explained what I want instead, can you please read my OP and my other comments in the thread?

Oh really? They don't care that I die? Why do they then care so much to kill me if for measly 10 seconds I stray one meter outside of the arbitrary "edge" even while fighting enemies?

And here's another idea I thought about since posting my OP: Initial traitor counter could be 30 seconds, or 40, or whatever is more reasonably than the stupid flat 10 seconds we have now. But the farther you move out from the edge, the faster it ticks down. And also if you move inside it won't just reset, maybe have it recover by 2 seconds per second.

You know there can be plenty ways to tweak and fix this crap, but somehow Im suspecting in 3 years that silly flat 10 second traitor counter will still be here, unchanged.

Why not give us believable viable but difficult options in such final scenarios? Why do we have to endure the removal of our suspension of disbelief to achieve this? It absolutely makes no sense whatsoever that you can use "becoming traitor" to somehow force conjure heavy artillery barrages to become heroes of democracy.

....you can intentionally call in a Trator artillery when swarmed.
It has actual uses.
lol It isn't just a mechanic to kill you, you can use it to clear out the hordes a bit before you die from their swarms.

Easy fix for the invisible Traitor map boundary.

"You are in range of enemy artillery."
Countdown still happens, reaches 0 and you get blasted by something. Spewer acid or Automaton mortars.

yea its EXTREMELY restrictive.
