PSA for gunships
If you don’t want to bring quasar, try laser cannon against them. It can take them down in a few seconds pretty fast whilst maintaining flexibility for other bot types

Just remember the engine pods are their weak spot

Any high medium pen can kill them. The same stuff that can penetrate hulk face plate.

So AC, AMR, Laser Cannon and HMG.

You don't have to bait people into bringing laser cannon like that, there's good weapons that also kill the things. You can spray a scorcher at gunships and they fall down.

I found out that the autocannon can destroy them in 2-3 shots to the cockpit (frontal part of the ship).

Yes, but the laser cannon is a beam with infinite ammo and can drop them quickly. It’s definitely slept on against bots and I find it to be one of the best gunship killers too

Aint bait if it works; was already carrying the LC when i encountered the gunships after patch, had Quasar and EAT team members who couldnt hit their shots but my fancy rave light saved the day.

How is this "baiting"? I think the word you're looking for is "encouraging".

The joke is it's baiting when it's encouraging people to do something that's kinda weak or a catch 22. The laser cannon's pretty bad against most things since the damage output is so slow and you get overwhelmed, so bringing the laser cannon just to take out gunships when there's so many more options that take out gunships and everything else much easier would be something more likely to get players killed.

Who wouldn’t want the quasar?

It’s not weak though, you’re probably using it wrong. It’s not a heavy frontline run and gun weapon like how most people try to use it.

Ideally, you bring it with a jet pack and climb to a high point and snipe the heads off devastators and hulks for your team. The trade off relative to the AMR is you have infinite ammo and it’s easy to aim. This means you can stay put for a long while, so it’s good for objectives like the nuke that take a bit to turn on.

4 AMR shots to the engine kills it, so you can down 2 ships pretty rapidly in one mag, plus AMR is very good vs bots in general.

This is why i succeed with the LC, team mates go in with close range guns while i'll crouch and headshot everything i can with the LC before it needs cooling - only time it really lets me down is when i get the grps of berserkers on top of me; LC can still hurt them but having to shoot while backpedalling decreases the effectiveness. Other time it lets me down is probably the sights on it when ADS and visibility os poor, then its clunky :/

Infinite ammo's really not much of a benefit, especially when you have so much less damage and then a big cooldown time ontop of that so when the team's fighting 10 devastators you're really only getting 2-3 of them before having to wait around. An Autocannon takes those out much faster, as does an AMR, or the railgun, or the arc thrower, all without needing to headshot devastators. Infact if we're against devastators, even primary weapons with 100+ damage can oneshot the heads off em.

Also for any objectives where we have to stay put for awhile, we just call in supplies. You have infinite supply drops as long as the mission's not over, just have to wait a couple minutes between each one, tops ammo back up to full, as does calling in the strategem weapon you had again.

It definitely is an upside though, because you can spend more time shooting and less time worrying about resupplies. Plus, the perfect pinpoint range makes it great for long range shots.

It’s a cliff camping weapon first and foremost, where you are supporting the team rather than being an individual solo player, so it takes getting used to. This is where it outshines its alternatives.

TLDR: I think it’s misunderstood because it’s a camper teamplay gun in a community dominated by solo run and gun players

For real? Praise be scorcher mains, killing entire bot squads to accidentally shooting the floor and killing yourself.
