That's pretty useful being able to fire a shot from far away, pepper a crowd with fire and a bulk of the trash dies from fire DoT: burn lasts like 3 sec so pace your shots when at a distance.
It just sounds like you got hit with the gas/fire damage bug where it sometimes won't register.
I will say I did play like two games as host, maybe 3? And the damage felt negligible at best. I could be wrong, though..
It just feels very underwhelming even after the buff in both host and not host, I end up just firing my gun to finish ♥♥♥♥ off instead of feeling like the DoT is doing anything at all.
Also not one-shotting everything in the game doesn't mean it wasn't improved. It was one of the weakest direct-damage weapons and rightfully still is, it's just been improved marginally along with burn being improved significantly. Good buffs for most things. RIP Arc thrower, though, they should have fixed it so the gun fires more than 50% of the time before trying to "balance it," since the performance data is going to be absolutely wrong.
Dots work 24/7 host or not
I play today with full flame kit as joiner not host for 3 full maps with this pug vs bugs
Flamer
nades
shotgun
airstrike
vs bugs
you shoot of 3 to four rounds above the pack mobs with shotgun
watch and laugh as they still come out you then die to dot dam moments later
shoot kite watch the kills rake up as you run away
same with all the flame damage

No, it's an absolutely good metric for a game where if you wait for something to die, the longer you have to wait the longer you have to be at risk, especially when the DoT just.. doesn't do much.
It also doesn't seem to stack, which means shooting something multiple times does not make it burn for more damage, at the very most it just re-ups the time.. possibly.
In general DoT is very .. iffy in this game, specifically because as I said waiting it means you're just spending more time under threat, which doesn't really work in the higher difficulties.
The arc thrower's RoF decrease is the only real L it took. It still feels powerful.
And while I understand your comment about the oneshot, that's not what we're asking for. Being more viable than before doesn't make it an improvement, though, either. Just because it got a buff doesn't make it.. good..

B4 patch I thought need a stagger on flamer I was wrong all need was more dot dam kill much faster
We're talking about the Breaker Incendiary, not the Flamer, and the Flamer could kill 3 or so chargers in one can (I believe?) after the first buff.
But as I said, this topic was about the Breaker Incendiary, the primary weapon.
