Guard Dog Reloads
WTF the regular ammo boxes do not refill ammo, just the stratagem supply drop boxes do....lame.

Yeah, the patch notes said that they just "buffed" the GD so that supply boxes completely refill it, as if that's enough to make it viable.

It's at least a step in the right direction, but IMO its magazine size (time between reloads/rearms from docking with the backpack) needs to be increased too before I would consider it close to viable compared to the rover variant (and even then only really against automatons).

Agree completely.

really do wonder how devs consider this even remotely viable as a pick compared to the laser drone.

like even if the bullet drone had 100% infinite ammo the laser drone would still be superior due to its firing/sweeping pattern that cuts down swarms of bugs.

the bullet drone even has a bad tendency to burst down teammates far quicker than the laser drone, like a backstabbing assassin.

At this point they should just make guard dog use Sickle and call it a day lol.

Yup, its needs something like dual drum magazines that will allow it to useful for longer.

I'd actually settle for dual drums and once they are spent, the rover is useless until refilled via supplies (ie: it only docks when the ammo is spent rather than reloading) which isnt that hard tbh. Also need to allow it to be reloaded by at least 50% by supply back packs (if it doesnt already get filled to some degree, im not actually sure)

Anyone have thoughts on that?

Bruh.

We are no longer at the time of SPACE EXPLORATION where every STEP count

I dislike people like you that overpraise ALL THE MICRO STEPS devs do, FOR CORRECTING STUFF THAT SHOULD BE THERE from the get go.
Its as dumb as praising an alcoholic "at least its a step, that they drank 3 bottles compared to 5"

Also Arrowhead "small team" and CEO being "Chad" on twitter. When he could HIRE MORE PEOPLE.
WITH THE MILLIONS $ OF PROFITS.
Even if it's not millions, and just hundred thousands $, pretty sure if they posted a "1k $ prize" for a mod to solve each of their troubles, some modders would create them in just 5days.

(Other topic)
It just takes 5min and they could balance all weapons to be FUN.
Its just FKING open the code file, find the "value number", delete it, TYPE NUMBERS ON K.E.Y.B.O.A.R.D, close the file, click SAVE CHANGES. Done.

Stop simping for Arrowhead.

Oh wait, you are a staff of them.
A paid PR.
(just kidding)

A step. ISNT ENOUGH.
BECAUSE ITS THEIR FKING JOB
A free modder could do 10x their work FOR FREE. IN LESS TIME.

Because they can't beat diff6
That is why they dont know how to balance stuff

Or they listen to incompetent "leaders" (or a absent CEO that only bother to twitter and not give decent DECISIONS)
Hot take: Guard Dog drone is actually really good. Yes, it has crap ammo, but the range on it is bigger than the rover, the damage is good, and it goes for headshots. This is perfect against bots. It can just erase devastators for you randomly. Yes, it will waste bullets on scout striders, but not if you delete scout striders with the plasma scorcher like you're supposed to. Always shoot scout striders first unless you're trying to stop a bot drop form alerting. I take it sometimes on bots, especially if there's a stupid modifier like stratagem call-in time or cooldown debuffs.

The only thing that really sucks about it is the fact regular ammo boxes don't do anything for it. Those boxes will even give you spear refills for liberty's sake. If the guard dog could get mags this thing would be great. You could just scavenge the PoIs for this high-quality ammo. You can almost keep up with its ammo demands if you take resupply off cooldown, which would encourage you to run with your teammates closely, but if you aren't right on top of the resupply every moment it's available you're definitely gonna run out, which sucks.

Dang

200iq idea

Arrowhead should hire you, compared to whatever idiot is in charge of balancing.

rover is still better, but its viability has increased dramatically over the previous iteration.

uptime could be increased, as it needs to reload a lot, amount of ammunition in the backpack could also be increased as it runs out suprisingly quick.

compared to the rover, it has a significantly larger damage per second, as it kills bugs very quick, but it needs to reload after killing like 3 warriors and tends to dump ammo into targets it has trouble hitting or simply bounces off (hive guards, it loves to shoot it even though it does nothing to them)

its higher damage also makes it far more deadly against the player.

AND

there is a bug, where the drone doesnt shoot lot of bullets and immediately go back to reload

AND

the bug, where it takes 10s doing nothing after reloading
(i was doing a solo mission diff2 for farm, drone finished to reload, and i kept a few "small bugs" alive to see its democratic work, it didnt shoot for 5-10s despite flying)

The worse is that AH
wont ever bother to "elevate" the height flying of the laser drone (and solving all hate for it)

bc keeping it like that : is for both shenanigans AND slow down player progression (teamkill)
Malidictus Apr 19, 2024 @ 5:38am
Yeah, the Guard Dog needs to pick up ammo off of ammo boxes at the VERY least. It also really needs a larger magazine and more ammo capacity. It's a decent backpack, but it blows all its ammo on a Charger then isn't available 90% of the time.
