I wouldn't be surprised if they're silently doing a checksum when you boot the game though. They could flip a switch and ban every player using model swap mods.
At some point this is bound to get an official statement from arrowhead due to it growing it popularity~ we'll see.
They just banned 180 countries to prove a point.
Anti-cheat bans are caused by the anti-cheat picking up on active code from a known cheat.
A PSN ban would be the result of a manual report being filed and acted on.
Depending on the anti-cheat, some of them will still ban cosmetic mods.
VAC as an example will ban users who use skinchangers.
I dont know if nProtect scans for alterations to game files beyond anything that is a known cheat.
However they won't ban modders themselves, unless the mods are interfering with gameplay on a large scale for other players.
So yes and no.
If you think they won't DMCA mods and ban anyone using them with their kernel level tamper protection.
It threatens their profits. Can't see it lasting.
I think Sony is making some noob mistakes on PC rn, but they'll up their game as their launcher comes out.
I wouldn't expect PsN mods to last.
Heresy!
