Shots that ricochet
"Shots that ricochet from heavy armored enemies will now properly hit the Helldiver who fired them. Trigger discipline is highly recommended."

What elitist crap. Do they want casuals to have any fun? Do they care about casuals?

My brother got killed by this new feature a couple of times last night. More importantly, are we supposed to be encouraged NOT to shoot at anything whose armor and weak points we don't already understand? That is not fun. Wasting ammo was not enough of a penalty?

But just as bad...it makes no sense? How do I keep immersion in a game where the developers think ricochets always bounce straight back towards the shooter? It'd be really cool to include ricochets that bounce the way ricochets actually bounce. That's only straight back towards the shooter in very limited circumstances.

Having a game as much fun as Helldivers was is kind of magic. And it's fragile. But the devs are experimenting wildly, and are not trying their experiments on a public test server.

It's a really stupid mechanic. To work around it I suggest using a "decent to good at everything" weapon like the Scorcher.

Yeah, (ignoring everything else in this update because I don't want to get into that dumpster fire) the ricochet doesn't make a lick of sense

If you shoot at a straight wall then I assume the ricochet will bounce directly at the shooter?

I dunno about this, I have been using lasers since he update, lemme try.

As someone who has been incredibly stupid and shot at things I really wasn't supposed to, no. Even shooting at a flat wall should not cause the round to ricochet straight back at you. (And honestly the footage I've seen, it doesn't matter what angle you hit the armor at it's just coming straight back at you)

why are you crying? I did a ricochet from ah hulk to a devastators face. One shoot kill! this is fun! they don't always bounce back straight to you. maybe change your aim??
and as you state that it is a waste of ammo? why are you doing it then. learn and adapt. don't make the same mistake over again and cry out it's the games fault.

why are so many people crying after a bit of disapointment in a game? you can't always win! do you know how many failed mission I have? a lot! but who cares??? Laugh it of and dive again.

Shots are very likely to ricochet straight backwards, if you shoot at an armored surface that directly faces you, at least in real life, with jacketed bullets. Most guns in the game are armor penetrating, even if it is only light armor pen. I just tried this in game, and my bullets ricochets correctly to the side if I shoot at an angle.

So I have no idea what ur talking about.

just.... don't wast ammo into a target you clearly arent hurting. its an amusing mechanic to see bullets flying about when your strafing across a shield with bullets

Played several rounds today, used a whole variety of weapons, got the ricochet hit icon many many times, didn't have a single round come straight back at me, pretty sure I didn't do any team damage either.
The patch notes on the whole seem very poorly worded. My guess is previously ricochet projectiles were "dead" and didn't cause any additional damage to any targets they hit subsequently. Now they probably do, but the likelihood of actually being hit by a ric is likely very slim given all the circumstances that can affect how and where and in which direction ricochets happen.

They did do damage to enemies and allies, but they did not do damage to the helldiver shooting them. I would argue an error has been corrected.

It was a problem with the hitscan when it DID hit the shooter. Stop raging.

Cool, so the likelihood of being hit hasn't increased, just the fact that if you ARE hit you WILL actually take damage now.

I know patch notes can get really wordy and make it easy to get lost in the verbage but AH really needs to add some actual, well, NOTES to the patch notes.
