Airburst Rocket does nothing to Airships
Tickles Airships and that's about it.

properly good against bugs but cannot test.

main problem it can go off in your face.
no minimum detonation means it can explode as soon as it leaves your launcher.

second problem from my use has a 50% to go off mid flight from terrain.

To be honest if it does trash damage to both ground and air what is this thing made for any way?

Team killing lol?
that's definitely what it seems like...

"Air Burst" not "Anti-Air". Airburst means it uses a proximity fuse to explode prior to impact to dispense a cluster munition at a target. The weapon is light-armour penetration so think of it as a portable version of the Airburst orbital or Eagle Cluster Strike and use it the same way. Do NOT use it at targets less than 75-100m away though or when teammates are criss-crossing around you as it has one hell of a large blast radius, and the proximity fuse can trigger on teammates.

Not for use against medium to heavy armour. It can eliminate striders in a patrol if you aim for the peons following it. Honestly though I see little reason to take this over the much safer Grenade Launcher. The Air Burst can take out a light patrol with 1 missile where a GL might need 3-4 grenades, but a GL can take out a Strider with one hit, plus damage/stagger heavy devastators. The GL is about 90% less likely to kill a teammate let alone wipe out the entire squad. :)

I'm fine with it not doing Airships. It'd be a lot better if anyone could find ANY reliable use case for it if it's filling a strategem slot when it's released. At least with clusterbombs I have an idea of where and when they are going to detonate. This? Who knows, could be in your face, could be in your team's face, could be 60 meters past the target - and then 2-5% of the time maybe where you intended.

I could see, once it is available, using it on 'destroy eggs' missions against bugs. You would never have to worry about the angle of incoming Eagle/orbital attacks.

In fact, I think it might be one of those strats that is better used against one faction (bugs) than another (bots), at least for now.

you're using a portable cluster bomb for anti armor purposes,
thats on you.

The way it handles the ground targets at the moment you would assume it was meant to handle air targets. Honestly their better choices for air and ground make this weapon feel out of place.

Better and safer choices for egg mission already exists.

Brand new weapon worth testing it out. Don't act like it been a year old weapon.

Bugs are constantly at closer range to the players than the bots are. Not sure how it's not going to be considerably worse. For egg missions. Maybe? But watching how it sails over bot fabricators and detonates 50 meters past them, my guess is that it will either detonate in your face or wildly past the eggs.

The weapon itself is extremely high risk to use on bugs because they can close the distance relatively quickly, or will simply swarm you from multiple directions. You cannot use these on egg missions. Egg clusters are usually protected from all but one side and the range is close enough where it may and will kill its user.

why would it? its a shrapnel weapon like the airburst orbital or clusterbomb

lots of kids on here that dunno what "airburst" means i guess

Gunships are armored and the new clusterf.. support weapon has no penetration capability.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Change it from prox trigger to manual detonation and MAYBE you can make a weak use case argument.
