Fastest way to farm Rare Samples?
Common samples are pretty easy to farm with the 15 minute eradicate missions (quick in and out within 10 minutes on a level 4 bug mission nets me 10 samples solo), and Super Samples are decent because their requirement on ship upgrades are fairly low (15 on XXL weapons bay for example).

But how do you guys go about farming rare samples? Is playing the game regularly the only way? (Really dreading farming 150 super samples alone for XXL weapons bay).

My current sample count is around 350 40 20 (common, rare, super) so it’s kinda frustrating how disproportionate rare samples are.

From what I heard, rare samples inside POIs don’t count toward the map cap. Guess I’m gonna have to convince my mates to fan out and do these civvie missions, as we all hate these (especially on fire tornado planets that just cook the stupid AI that path into the tornado)

Iunno I just play on 7's cuz good balance of difficulty > payoff.

You can play normally and still obtain the rare samples provided you're with a team that would gather them.

But if you intend to actively farm them without getting clobbered, I recommend playing on Level 6 (Extreme) difficulty solo or with a few chums and select missions such as Sabotage Air Base (Automaton only planets), Emergency Evacuation (Not to be confused with Evacuate essential personnel), Retrieve Valuable Data or Launch ICBM. These missions specifically allow you to roam the map with enough time to complete the mission objectives afterwards.

Most, if not all, fabricators and bug nests will contain rare samples.

Happy hunting. And if you want someone to gather samples with, feel free to add me and I'll join you whenever I am playing. I've completed my ship but I wouldn't mind helping a fellow Helldiver.

Edited to reflect prior responses on Evacuate Essential Personnel missions.

The ones that spawn in bunker doors, etc aren't part of the total.
That's one way you can leave with like 35 of 30.

Oh +1 this. I didn't notice it on first pass. But yeah that's the explanation.

This is correct, however, I find that both bots and bugs spawn very frequently as you run around. This seems to be just how the mission runs that the enemy spawns at a very high rate.

Yep, this is your answer. The reduced number of areas means each area spawns more samples.

Its slower than Evacuate missions. And people can play higher difficulties and get more.

Evacuation of essential personell 20-30 rare samples in very short timeframe

It seems this mission was removed from the game? Cant find it anymore neither on attack or defending planets.

I think it was removed 3-4 patches ago, a lot of people were complaining and AH removed it to rework it

If you play the game for awhile, you can get samples. I know its a pretty shocking revelation.
