(Dead game, but the Alliance DLC is PvE and can be played with friends, don't expect to find randoms still playing tho)
Risk of Rain isn't even remotely in the same genre. It's a Rogue-Like. L4D and its clones (B4D, Vermintide, Darktide, Fireteam Elite, Payday) are similar in only the broadest of strokes of being 4-player co-op. They offer linear experiences with scripted objectives. DRG would count here, as well, though that one's even farther removed due to the procedural spelunking. That Starship Troopers game MAYBE, but I'd hardly count a 16-player game anywhere close to this one.
Not to mention - who is this for? Do people choose their games based on a set of tags? "Oh, this one has "co-op", "PvE" and "shooter". I must play this game. That's one step above picking a game based on its box art.
It's just people listing other 4 player PvE games which seem to be relatively easy to drop in and out of for public matches.
Lots of people are seeing interesting games that might scratch a certain itch they're looking for, so it's nice that people share some titles here.
If you don't like it just move along? I really don't understand your urge to overshare your negative feelings on the matter.
You may want to ruminate on what you consider "taking something personally". You made a list of "games like this" then cited multiple games which are nothing "like this". Me pointing this out isn't "taking it personally", it's pointing out what I perceive to be a fundamental flaw in your actions. If all you wanted to do was share 4-player-co-op games (of which I'm pretty sure Risk of Rain isn't) then just call the thread that. Or disclaim it in the OP.
So... am I only allowed to post if I have something positive to say and move on if I have negative thoughts on the matter? This doesn't seem particularly justified. I think your assessment of what constitutes "games like this" is wrong. I fail to see the point of making this thread, even if people have retro-actively found a point to it which you don't seem to have intended. You posted this in a public forum, so that seems entirely par for the course.
But tell you what - if you don't like my posts, then you're free to move along. Stop responding to me and I'll have no reason to keep coming back.
Stop cluttering up the topic with this nonsense, go find somewhere else to vent your frustrations.
I literally only listed games relevant to the person i was replying to btw.
I suspect this may deeply hurt your feelings but you're forcing yourself into a conversation you have no interest of participating in, why bother?
And bugs.
