THEY NERF'D THE ARC THROWER INTO THE GROUND!
They have made the Arc Thrower completely useless against all enemies in the latest update!

They decided to give it STAGGER against enemies! They also fixed its inconsistencies with electrical arcing

Completely unusable!

Intentional or not, the 'half-charge' mechanic was what made the Arc Thrower fun. Just getting into and maintaining that half second rhythm was cathartic.

I mean, until it refused to arc to a target 20 meters away you had clear sight of; because the Arc Thrower just didn't like the look of a rock on the ground, or there was one too many enemy corpses, or maybe it was just having a personal moment and couldn't be bothered to get its sh*t together on a time table convenient for you...

I wouldn't mind trading range for stagger, if they could get it to arc consistently. As is, its utter unreliability and the cutting its effective DPS in half while also reducing the range? The only reason it isn't absolute garbage is that it can break open cargo containers and it has unlimited ammo.

Seriously, imagine needing to juggle the any amount of ammo for a weapon that effectively has a random chance to do absolutely nothing when you pull the trigger, and you need to wait a whole second before you can roll those dice again? This game has enough random chance flying around that you don't need being applied to your Support weapon.

Man brought an Arc thrower vs. hulks. Stick in the spokes my gun

Dudes mad because the game takes .... skill to play now. LMAO

Dude in a game where you are NOT supposed to be close to any enemy what so ever, the nerf to distance is absolutely uncalled for. Maybe 5 or 7 meters at MOST with the new stagger capability, but if you think being 35 meters away from any of the automatons is a safe distance on any of the harder difficulties then I don;t believe you actually play them consistently like I do.

It has a 1 second charge up time in between every shot. That was the balance it needed to keep it from being over tuned the way it WAS.

This obsession with nerfing good guns just because it's used more than others is getting out of hand and killing the vibe for me.

Nice, great job! I first thought you would mean the OP serious =D
Yeah, the decreased range hurts a bit, but the buff is really mega:admech:

The quick shots after the first was too strange to not be a bug, so i was expecting to be fixed. You can still fire it just before the full charge :o.
The range is not really a issue for my part (thanks to the thick fog xD )
And the stagger buff is nice.
So i do not think it was nerf into the ground and i will continue to use it.
PS: maybe after more try i will change my mind

Just tried the arc thrower in game. I can't feel any difference. Actually, if anything, it felt like the hit detection was more consistent (though that could be placebo effect).

I think they mostly just did what they could to get it to work properly.
We saw so many weird things it did before, it sometimes wouldnt even see enemies from range and you would be sparking the weapon without it even hitting anything.

I wasn't worried about range too much when it would fail to zap ♥♥♥♥ 5 meters in front of me because there was a blade of grass in the way. Hopefully it's fixed.

Anyone who used the Thrower with any regularity already knew it wasn't even remotely reliable past 35m as it was. Really don't see any significant difference post-patch, it still hits first target at reasonable ranges and the chain can still go significantly farther out.

Im the opposite, its up close I couldnt get it to hit ♥♥♥♥. It was a long ranged weapon or bust.
Now I guess its just bust.

Have you considered diving when the hulk uses its flamethrower?

The stagger on the Arc Thrower makes every charger a literal joke... the rest is not an issue either... for me at least it feels like it got a buff.... that stagger alone makes it broken, i played with it today all day, on suicide... had no problems using it, it's even better then it was, a little bit slower, but that is, it's harder to kill your teammates with it, so you don't need to be that careful with it anymore, pushes back almost every armored enemy, even chargers can be stopped with it, or even pushed to the side... i don't know why people say the Arc Thrower is unusable, when it became even more broken than it was...
