The Helldivers are the Good Guys

We all know that Helldivers is based on the 1990s Starship Troopers film, which is a satirical take on fascism. There are propaganda videos inside of the film but the narrative of the film also is a piece of propaganda on a certain level. A prominent view is that the human society in Starship Troopers is actually the "bad guys" and the sentient bugs are the "good guys".

However, in the case of the Helldivers, the Terminids and Automatons are clearly existential threats to the only form of truly sentient life in the universe. In order to save the miracle that is the human mind, we must exert will to power and save Super Earth.

The Terminids and Automatons ARE NOT SENTIENT. If I shoot a malfunctioning toaster that is about to burn my house down, how am I not the good guy for saving my family? Similarly, if there is a bee that is about to sting a child who is highly allergic to bugs, why would I be the "bad guy" for squashing the bug?

The Helldivers are like the fist that squashes that bug to save the child, right?

To be fair, seeing how the Bugs and Bots butcher our people (and seeing the awful fate that is being turned into a Voteless by the Squids) I'd say its comparable to the Imperium of Man from 40k

In any other setting, they'd be the bad guys. But this isn't about good or bad. This is about survival.
Its us or them
