So, I tried Suicide level.
All I can say is if it's that level or higher to get supersamples in order to continue to upgrade my ship, I'm gonna end up falling short. I played with some experienced people, and all that happened was we ALL died, over and over, then failed the mission. Hulks and tanks getting dropped in everywhere. I didn't feel like I could begin to get a handle on that level of intensity; I felt like there was no handle to grab on to. Completely out of my league.

Although I know the devs want people to be really good to reach certain levels, and that many people have mastered playing at even higher levels than this, I don't understand things being that overwhelmingly bent towards losing. I COMPLETELY ACCEPT THIS IS MY OWN SHORTCOMING And yet, I do like the game, and would like to keep playing it, rather than having to abandon it for this very confusingly pointless reason.

I notice a lot of people who play these levels just find it funny when they die, or actively pursue things that explode them or make them drop samples. The voice chat is full of everyone laughing as they die doing dumb sh!t. In the last mission I played, someone called an orbital laser on landing zone, setting the Pelican on fire and killing everyone except one person, losing the majority of the samples and money acquired. The laughter from everyone was impressive.

I feel like I've lost the point of my comment here though, which is this game is fun and all, but it's kind of depressing to know I'm probably gonna have to abandon it purely because of the difficulty curve.

EDIT 1: I realize I didn't specify that this was a lvl 7 mission AGAINST BOTS, NOT BUGS. I get the feeling a lot of you thought I meant I was doing a bug mission.

EDIT 2: So the responses I got were:

1. It's not that hard.
2. Just use [this weapon] and it's easy.
3. Boy you suck; skill issue; you must really enjoy the game to still be playing that level.
4. it's probably your team's fault; play with better people and its easy.
5. one trick that might net me some super samples (thanks).
6. a few invites and some friendly advice.

I already admitted, IN BOLD LETTERS, that it's at least partially my own skill level that is to blame. I'm know people don't read, but dang, not seeing the bold lettering either?

Thank you to those who tried to offer advice or help. It's really appreciated, and I will at least try that one trick to see if it works for me.

I cannot blame my team. Not completely. They played to max level and now they're just bored a bit, or looking for some laughs since none of it matters anymore. I can deal with this to a point at least. *I* need to feel like I've improved though, and all I was, was overwhelmed.

The autocannon is a great all around secondary. If you ever get time to load it. In that mission, I barely had time to load my primary before I died. Might have been a case of 'first time blues', but yeah, they dropped three tanks on us in the first bot drop. It was silly, and autocannon's not gonna do anything to a tank you're not behind. Oh, and the tower cannons and mortars hammering everything.

Someone suggested just playing with the Spear. I'm guessing it's troll time. I already know the Spear can't lock on to small troops, or even the medium ones, won't fire without locking on, so would be useless to keep me alive. The problem was the sheer amount of firepower being thrown at me and no real way to avoid it, not being able to do damage.

I have to admit that atm, I'm a little burnt on this kind of bullsh!t, and was expecting people to take mindless jabs at me for posting, so I'm not really mad or whatever. Say what you will. BUT I HUMBLY ASK THAT PEOPLE NOT TROLL ME FOR NO REASON, OR TELL ME I'M BAD WHEN I JUST TOLD **THEM** I'M PROBABLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Let's not waste each others time, hmm?

You can easily farm super samples yourself on defense missions that involve extracting personal.

Just pick a landing spot outside the mission area and run around looking for super samples and don't even bother doing the mission. The super samples always spawn around this tall rock that you can look up online how it looks example, so you just need to keep an eye out for that

Just play keep away from the enemies while you have the samples and wait out the 12 min mission time. Keep away from the main mission area and the drop zone area the whole time, just do laps around the map. Then after the timer fails, you get a auto extraction that comes down. At that point get really close to the extraction zone and be prepared to leave the moment it lands as it'll take off in 18 seconds

You can farm all you need sample wise from those missions without the need of anyone else or actually doing the mission

It sounds like the issue is more that you've been unlucky with who you've been playing with. Make sure that you are landing away from any enemies to give everyone a chance to call gear and get their bearings. Have some quasars, Eats, and rail guns and its not that much different from Extreme.

I have only one problem with 7-9 difficulty levels. - People.
This 50 lvl players, that insta kick you or die first then kick you out.

!!! Before responding to my comment, please read it whole. I skipped over some parts of OP's post and then came back to them, it's a mess. I'm sleep deprived. !!!

I have about 35 hours on the game, started playing only on 8 and up at around 15 hours in. There just isn't any benefit from playing lower levels apart from it getting boring because there just isn't enough enemies spawned. I do not really get angry at losing samples, or failing a mission, but if I die due to a bug, no pun intended this time, then it can tick me off.

They could make the Uranium samples(the pink ones) accessible on lower difficulties, but that would beat the point of the "endgame" and "requiring skill" to have the best upgrades possible unlocked.

The only thing that will probably make me stop playing this game is the optimization. Like, at difficulty 8 and up it's just horrible. If there's a lot of enemies in a nest or near the extract point, the FPS can drop to lower 40s and it starts to get noticable. I'd be somewhat fine with 60fps, even on a 200hz monitor, but lower 40 and sometimes 35 is just painful.

Back to the difficulty curve though - The game is really not hard. Yes, I do agree that 7 & up is pretty though if you have teammates that are braindead and keep throwing 500kg below your feet, but if you have people with common sense then it's very managable. The first 3 randoms I found on diff8 were so chill & good that I was grinding with them for like 7 hours or so. If you can't get good randoms, join a discord and find people that know what they're doing. It's easier that way. Communicate and support eachother.

If you want, we can play together someday and I could help you, but I don't really have people that speak english that play with me, so we'd have to pray for randoms. hah

Your describing to cheese and exploit and avoid actually genuinely engaging with the core gameplay.

No I'm describing one way to get super samples. It's not an exploit because you have to actually do the mission and earn them yourselves, survive the whole time and extract as well. It's harder than you think to do this. It also takes at least 15 minutes to do for zero XP and medals
spliff Mar 30, 2024 @ 4:28pm
you need to play differently on 7+. more stealthy. look for the super samples, go extract. otherwise everything needs to be perfect. don't pull pats, don't aggro mobs you don't need to, use the radar pings, use cover, everything you got. also use the armor which gives you 30% stealth.

it's a different kind of beast, and it's super fun.

edit:
or just do what foxador said in his reply. can also be a "blitz" mission. theoretically it could be any mission, but you don't want to wait 40 minutes.. :-D

Here's the thing... I have all of the ship upgrades and I can easily say you do not need them, especially if you're playing on lower difficulties. I feel like you're not thinking about this the right way. Just play the game on a difficulty that you enjoy. If you're only playing the game to unlock everything, what's the point when you're finished? Hopefully you're playing the game for, you know, fun. I have all ship upgrades, all stratagems, everything unlocked in all 3 war bonds, and I'm capped on samples (500/250/100) and I'm still playing the game just for the fun of it.

exactly, their wheelhouse is maybe 1-2 at most and people wonder why the game gets more difficult or frustrating, because their difficulties don't really get touched.
Snowfunk Mar 30, 2024 @ 4:38pm
Bot's are +5 difficulty.
Just get samples playing bugs, bug on 7 is a fair challenge.

i play level 7s when i just feel like chilling and 9s when i i dont. The game is too easy as it is. Skill issue really.

I play with rl friends, we only play online coop games. We were stuck in diff 4-5 for the longest time. And it was challenging. But we knew we'd need the super samples so we knew we'd need to play level 7+. It was rough at first , but having the proper gear for the mission you are heading to is obviously important.

The biggest thing i think for me and for getting to a place where this was possible , was learning to dive a lot, learning to dodge a charger. And learning to be ready to stim fast.

Outside of that it's a matter of crowd control, knowing when to burn em all down fast , and when to put some distance between you and the pack. In my experience it also helps to stick together with your team and watch each others back when possible.

You can.

(All that said , we played last night and got our asses handed to us over and over again. First time that's happened in a long time)

Then you should go to lvl7 which also allows to have super samples. I played lvl8 with random guy just 2 of us and we did well.
