What is the point of HMG?
The standard machine gun you get has more ammo and seems to be able to kill same things accept you do not need to fight it with every shot. Is there armor piercing effect I am missing?

Shield Devastator don't care about suppressive fire, I think Devastators in general are not affected by the so called "hyper sensitive sensor" that is supposedly making them vulnerable to suppressive fire.

Devastators and the shield ones in specific are rendered obsolete to the plasma punisher in the cutting edge warbond, it stunlocks them even if they block. On top of a crotch/top/side shot one shot to striders.

Go take the quasar cannon i to a close range situation where you are getting swarmed. Go on, take your one shot killing one thing and then proceed to get killed by the rest.


It's not invalid, as better armor penetration is the HMG's one-trick-pony compared to the other MG options. So if you're gonna lose the 3rd person aim reticle, most of your ammo capacity, and have to be immobile to hit anything at range; what kind of heavy armor performance does the HMG get you compared to other tools for that job?

At the end of the day, the HMG does a bit of everything, and as a result isn't great at anything. It is worse at clearing lightly or unarmored trash than either of the previous MG's, and is worse usability wise than most other heavy armor counters for use against heavy armor. Yeah, it can technically do both, but it's just not great at either.

Try reading the post again. As I said the HMG can deal with a concentrated clump of enemies. It can deal with armored stuff while killing more than one thing per reload.
If you make sure to bring a set of armor with the recoil perk you can get decent accuracy without going full prone, and also as I said if stuff is up close and personal you can rip chunks out of a patrol without fraging yourself with explosive damage.

I would have thought the massive recoil and the incredibly slow reload would have been enough of a balancing factor. But the fact that you don't get a crosshair in third person and don't even have a 100 round drum mag makes it just goofy. Truly this is the Dan Hibiki of support weapons

There's not really a point, it can deal with tougher enemies, but it's subpar at that compared to any support weapon actually designed for it and it isn't good as a horde clearer either due to it being terrible at literally everything but damage.
TLDR: It's a niche weapon not good at it's niche.

Nah mate, the claim that Super Earth weaponry doesnt work is the bot propaganda.
The HMG actually shreds, but is simply not the "I win" button unskilled gamers want it to be. ^^

the HMG is pretty good.
it works best vs bots, since it can kill everything the bots throw at you, even tanks. (put some shots in it from behind, in the vent as with the autocannon) and you're good.
put it in 1200 RPM mode, just squeeze the trigger slightly, and have 4 to 10 shots fly in the general direction, killing whatever comes at you.
or put it in 450 RPM mode, and use it as a .50 cal

first one is pretty much german MG 42 on normandy 1944, which is pretty sick.
second one is just the... well .50cal.

just remember to crouch or lay down, and you have all the control you want over your salvo.

i recently took out a whole bot AA gun emplacement at 200 m with that thing, just shooting the backside of the turrets... and the bots never had a chance to know where i was.

Of course you can just use the quasar cannon too.
play how ever you feel like, and try things.

I love that YOU were able to get the gun to work. Doesnt mean that its not crap to 90% of us.

The versatility of this gun compared to the new Quasar is comparatively low.

My skill issue is definitely a factor but on Helldive this isnt the right equipment.

I would say a gatling sentry will net you way more kills on light/medium, and weakened heavy armored enemies then 2, 75 rd mags of 50BMG. Not to mention its automated with zero recoil, prob 1K rounds and can be called every 3 mins.

IMO it needs considerably less recoil, 3rd person reticle as many have stated, and more damage (not pen)/ please buff the magazine size. This is a crutched weapon for low tier dives/fun. If you perform well with it, you clearly can do better with other options.

My opinion is the MG-206 is severely limited in its role. You have to compare it to other Weapons/ Stratagems otherwise balance becomes obsolete.

It has 75 rounds that are only useful at close range and when you aren't under aggro. Good luck hitting anything while prone, aggro'ed and hulks/ devastators pushing you. The sight is a close range combat optic. The recoil is absurd even on 450rpm. Can console players even hit anything with this? :steamhappy:

I am bringing the Quasar up because it dropped with it, and clearly got all the love.
The Quasar has unlimited ammo and what i'm assuming is a 10 sec cooldown. It can one shot Crushers, and 2-3 shot Bile titans in the head. The MG-206 has 150 rounds total with most of those probably being deflected and or missed. Unless you really like shooting small targets with big bullets.

The A/G-16 Gatling Sentry comparatively is the better Stratagem pick due to it having a 3 min cool down. Has what feels like 1000+ rounds of ammo with Shock Absorption Gel, and melts anything other then Heavies that don't have cracked armor. Paired with the Quasar you can drop Heavies effortlessly as the turret takes aggro from the whole team. It can shoot through anything the MG-206 can and with perfect accuracy automatically. Leaving you free to escape a bad situation, and or focus on Heavies/ OBJ.

Compared to another backpack weapon the AC-8 Autocannon has 60 rounds total with each round capable of killing many lights in a 3m radius. Can crack heavy armor at the correct angle and with pinpoint accuracy like the Hulks red eye. Can be rapid fired for CC and damage. Has a long range scope and 3rd person aiming. Its stock ammo will last multiple Bug breaches and Automaton drop ships. Doesn't require you to be in the perfect spot and prone unlike the MG-206 to be effective.

Better then wasting 2 stratagems for supply backpack and MG-206. Make it make sense man.

Theres plenty of ammo to be scavenged on large maps. Skilled players know this and make use of them so they dont need a supply backpack to use the HMG to good effect. ;)

there is no point, and "use against bugs" is a cope, just use the flame thrower because it's better, even the other machine guns are better in the role they fulfill. idk if the devs even play their own game because the balancing of certain things is wild to me
