Whats wrong with hulks with flamers? Are they supposed to insta kill regardless of armor?
I just finished testing with like all types of armor and I am getting insta killed with full life when ever a hulk with a flamer sprays in my general direction. Meanwhile when we use fire on a flamer, or napalm the bugs take about 3 seconds to die from the fire. Even when we catch fire from the napalm or other fire sources it kills us in a bit. It gives us time to dive and stim. They dont regardless of armor, am I missing something here?

I think is some sort of bug or desync, because sometimes you can tank the flamer a few hits, but also like you, get insta killed by a little spark on the boots XD

Because of how the fire stream is designed, if you get hit with it in a straight line, you're cooked.

I don't know whether or not it's intended, but I've learned not to let them get close to me, and always run away at an angle so I never get hit while I am perpendicular to them.

think its the dreaded head armor issue

head armor is stuck at 100 and doesn't benefits from armor perks

flammer hits head, count as headshot and deal critical damage resulting in a one shot

I hate that unit with a vengeance. That and the rocket devastator. His range is crazy compared to your own flamer and is very difficult to run away from if he's coming right at you and you don't have any heavy weaponry to hand. He's difficult to stagger too so if you're low on stamina and have nothing but your primary gun, he'll probably cut you down fast as you just can't stop him.
it feels like it should be about that dangerous anyway. the flamethrower hulks are no where near as dangerous as the rocket ones because of how close ranged they are so they might as well melt you when theyre close.

While direct hit with flamethrower stream got buffed? Devs only buffed fire damage over time against players, not enemies.

That is not a joke.

"Crits to the ankles" passive aggressive armor fix having a hand in turbo damage would not be surprising. stepping one toe in your own flamethrower puddles can kill you REAL fast sometimes just because you are on fire.

I can walk off a rocket launcher shot with fortified medium shop armor with more consistency, than not being reduced from full to 5% health please stop fake 'heal sound only' healing already from 0.0001 seconds of terrain fire igniting me.

Since day 1 I've found their flamer very inconstant as well. Sometimes it can just barely graze you and it'll kill you instantly from full. Other times it an completely wash over you and set you on fire, but it takes about 2 seconds to die.

I've suspected that perhaps it may sometimes count as a headshot and does extra damage even though that probably isn't very reasonable and certainly doesn't seem to benefit players with flame throwers.

Fire damage in general seems overtuned against players. Quickly sprint through the flickering embers left behind by a fire tornado a full 30 seconds ago? Instantly go up in flames. Why is our armor made of rocket fuel?

Poor quality I guess. Same reason as why we can drown in 5ft of water in a sealed environmental suit.

Hahaha I still find that stupid and funny, But is probably because later we will get swimming gear like the jump pack to jump.

Is it properly sealed? I haven't seen anything to suggest that.

I doubt we'd survive on the "extreme" cold and hot planets without it.

No, every planet is considered habitable. A suit that helps protect against temperature extremes (i.e. Sahara or Antarctica) does not have to be waterproof with a built-in air supply. If the suits functioned as well as you suggest, why do hot planets even have penalties?

wait, so they run off ME3MP Banshee rules? Good to know

Nah, there is something really wrong about this.
At launch the flame damage is not THIS bad.
Having a flame touch your pinky toe shouldn't instant gib you that for sure.
