HMG is bugged
no aiming reticle in 3rd person
in first person aiming reticle is slightly higher and bullets hit below red dot.
if its belt fed, why is it only 75 rounds? we can engineer lazers but not bigger belts?
i feel like it should have more armor penetration as well, and it does, up to medium... but like Heavy machine gun not having even a wee bit of damage on a charger feels... strange.

recoil reduction armor barely makes a difference on HMG compared to other guns.

Overall id say gun is C high tier, or B low tier. no gun is S tier currently.

once aiming is fixed maybe just solid low B.

We r talking abt the stationary HMG right?

I dunno but the hmg does have a rectile in 3rd person for me, the same way u get a rectile on normal weapons...hold down rmb?

No this is the new portable HMG that released yesterday.

I'll be honest, and this is only my personal opinion, but the heavy machine gun not having an aiming reticle makes it more or less useless. One uses a lot more bullets simply to land some on the target, aiming by tracers, and it makes its all-together 75x3 drums go way to quickly. It basically makes it one of the support weapon strategems no-one will ever pick.

Basically both the other MGs are automatically better, and there are many other weapons such as arc thrower and auto-cannon, not to mention the other heavy weapon that came today, the vortex cannon.

I tried it and while it is able to take on medium armor its not worth it. Fighting the automatons I ended up having to engage at close ranges, I lowered rpm to minimum to try to preserve ammo, and I still wasted so much it was just sad. Both the other MGs have reticles. It makes no sense for this one not to have it.

As it is its just a toy, and one I wouldn't even bring along just for fun. If it gets a reticule that will change, but for now its a slight fail. Sorry.

Welp, the plasma punisher's reticle is there but completely useless. This MG doesn't have third person reticle but would actually be useful, might be something that gets patched in later, might've been a missed feature.

Heavy weapons don't have 3rd person Reticle, the AMR doesn't have one either.

Standard MG does, Autocannon does, Stalwart does, plenty of "heavy weapons" do have 3rd person reticle so no idea what you're talking about.

Why we don't have bigger belts and drums on a portable hmg

Because humans are not known to be able to lug around 200 rounds of 50 bmg and a machine gun that weights a quarter of their weight minimum.

Humans aren't known to crash a pod, from space, into the ground and walk out unharmed either.

Btw, how strong are helldivers? Enhanced humans, super trained soliders like halo? The doom guy?
a mix between enhanced and super trained

Normal humans. 15 minutes of training.

it does.
depending on the fire mode you select (hold R, 450, 900 or 1200 RPM ) it either feels/sounds like a US Army .50 cal HMG or an MG 42.

Technically I think they have more than 15 minutes of training, especially considering their stamina and familiarity with weapons. Most people don't know how to properly aim and shot if they are given a gun and never held one before.

I'd guess they are militia guys who volunteer for Helldiver training and are then put through that 15 minute obstacle, patriotic kill bugs course, or civilians that are given a few months basic training first, then the obstacle, patriotic kill bugs course.

Either way, most civilians wouldn't be able to run roughly 5 miles in 40 minutes and still constantly use weapons proficiently, especially without being fatigued and breathless. Consider how fit your guy/gal is if she survives the entire mission and still have energy for a fist-bump.

Then again, I probably shouldn't try to apply reason to the Helldiver universe too hard..

I think it's less Super Soldiers and more Rule of Cool.

All of the propaganda, including the tutorial, is them taking in whatever civilians they can get to volunteer. There's nothing super about any of them, outside of their dedication to "freedom" and love of "democracy".

How come being dropped to the planet's surface in a hypersonic reentry pod doesn't snap the back of every helldiver? Cause helldiving is cool, stop asking questions.

How do they lug around a supply pack filled with thousands of rounds of ammunition, with dozens of grenades and medical supplies? Don't worry about it.

How come a civilization capable of FTL travel on such a small vessel is shooting people at the surface of a planet to go fight mano-a-mano with projectile machine guns and explosive grenades? Cause we all love stupid 80's action movies.

we can deploy with things that literally enhance our lungs or muscles, its safe to say helldivers are already enhanced, hell pods, even if they're built so well they negate orbital drop damage, would still deploy a normal human in an unconscious state from G-force.
