Old rail gun was OP because it had no downsides to it.
Stop crying over a objectively OP weapon being given a minor draw back to it.
It's a recoilless/EAT with much lower RoF and no backpack slot, against things like bile titans or multiple chargers, you're better off with the conventional launchers.
It takes about 2.5-3.5 seconds to charge and shoot requiring on target aim, you've gotta lead it more for that alone and it doesn't do too well at hitting moving targets since you'll have to chase them with the sight continuously, and on a weakpoint no less. Just nail them one quick tap and be done. Realistically this thing makes about 4-5 shots in the time it takes to call and use 4 EAT
Don't get me wrong, the Quasar is extremely powerful, but it's not without downsides. It also seems to do less damage than the rocket weapons, I've hit hulks in the heat sink and not killed them, it also takes three shots rather than two to destroy a turret without hitting weak spots. You also have the downside of not quite being in control of when you shoot, since you can't hold the charge.
Time to shoot: 3s, always regardless of visuals
Hellmire: 10s, 12s to fully clean the heatsink
Oshaune: 10s, 8s to fully clean the heatsink
Unfortunately Vandalon IV got liberated, but by memory and logic it was also 10s with about 4s for the heatsink.
With how other laser weapons work, the 10s seems to be a bug or something and it should be the second number, which means on cold planets it's an EAT every 4s+3s charge time, hard to beat that.
