Railgun vs Quasar
How is the nerf justified now that the quasar is this good? The quasar is probably the first weapon to be actually OP, and if it's CD wasn't bugged it probably would have way better fire rate too, absolutely ridiculous. It can one shot chargers and hulks, needs no ammo, has infinite range, doesn't need a backpack and it's not even cumbersome to aim.

The old railgun wasn't even half this good, let alone the new one.

Becuase the railgun can core out a hulk, pierces heavy armor, and has 20 shots that can be fired back to back, reloads and reloads on the fly and did not take a backpack.

Old rail gun was OP because it had no downsides to it.

Stop crying over a objectively OP weapon being given a minor draw back to it.

Because the Quasar isn't nearly as good as people seem to think it is.

It's a recoilless/EAT with much lower RoF and no backpack slot, against things like bile titans or multiple chargers, you're better off with the conventional launchers.

I could see it being a direct upgrade to the RR or spear if you are not running it as a crewed weapon. Thats about it. IMO if you are an EAT user, its not really an upgrade, side grade at best.

EAT has a 60 seconds CD for 2 shots, and this gun has 10s for each shot, how is that not OP?

Much less having to stand there and charge it and try to keep aim on target when the charger decides to start running about and you are just better slamming 2 eat into it's side or it's head/legs

It takes about 2.5-3.5 seconds to charge and shoot requiring on target aim, you've gotta lead it more for that alone and it doesn't do too well at hitting moving targets since you'll have to chase them with the sight continuously, and on a weakpoint no less. Just nail them one quick tap and be done. Realistically this thing makes about 4-5 shots in the time it takes to call and use 4 EAT

Being able to rapid fire those two shots is very powerful. Or two people being able to simultaneously grab the two EATs and instapop a bile titan.

Don't get me wrong, the Quasar is extremely powerful, but it's not without downsides. It also seems to do less damage than the rocket weapons, I've hit hulks in the heat sink and not killed them, it also takes three shots rather than two to destroy a turret without hitting weak spots. You also have the downside of not quite being in control of when you shoot, since you can't hold the charge.

The Quasar is not affected by modifier like the EAT, and the fact that you can spam this mean you don't need to conserve your ammo at all, unlike the EAT where you need to save it for when you need it. Also it only take 3 sec to charge the shot, the railgun need to be fire in unsafe mode that can kill you just to do anything near the damage of this thing LOL, it can even close bug nests / factory and has no range drop off unlike EAT.

In addition to the comments said already, the robots also aim punch you and you needing to hold this thing a long time makes it a lot easier to miss shots due to being shot at than just insta popping a shot with the EAT. Just came back from a level 7 bot mission and missed a lot of shots due to this. It feels pretty balanced and also I'd argue the EAT can still beat it in several situations. Also the rail gun still absolutely humiliates most bots and I see lot of players using it in high level bot missions.

As i said, the Quasar is not affected by missions modifier like the EAT. The fact that the quasar is on you all the time and you can spam it is insane, and it only charge for 3 sec, while the EAT take 6 sec to come down.

I killed myself earlier cause a hunter jumped half the map while i was stuck charging the thing trying to wipe a charger and it made me shoot the ground.

I'm not an expert but imo the AC-8 Autocannon is way better.
Death a Barbar Mar 28, 2024 @ 9:13am
Ok, tried out the cooldowns (reloads)
Time to shoot: 3s, always regardless of visuals
Hellmire: 10s, 12s to fully clean the heatsink
Oshaune: 10s, 8s to fully clean the heatsink
Unfortunately Vandalon IV got liberated, but by memory and logic it was also 10s with about 4s for the heatsink.

With how other laser weapons work, the 10s seems to be a bug or something and it should be the second number, which means on cold planets it's an EAT every 4s+3s charge time, hard to beat that.
