They will fail even harder with a sony launcher
- PSN is not available in ~120 countries.
- Sony is notorious for data breaches.
- The game works fine without a PSN account.
I also really hope they don't drop their own launcher, but it wouldn't surprise me.better yet, go and ask valve to put an end to this on steam. if we bought the game on steam it should not require any other account or launcher. also i'm not 100% sure if those are actually required for features like cross play and/or progression. if so, it should still be OPTIONAL for those that wan't to use those features. i'm pretty sure you can cross play age of empires for example without a microsoft account. and i play bloons td 6 on steam and mobile without having a ninjakiwi account. you generate a code in the options menu in the game, that you than can enter on the other platform and it will sync progression across platforms.
1. Launcher is additional and doesn't need to be used with Steam : No problem.
2. Additional launcher that can be opted out from (via command line or something): Will raise eyebrows but will be okay, I guess.
3. Mandatory Launcher that requires a PSN account (or even auto-creates one with steam data) to play the game: Prepare for Reviewdivers 2.0
Well, technically, Stellar Blade is but on Steam this is the last one.
Proof?
Capcom, Namco Bandai, Sega, Square Enyx, etc, perhaps they did in MMO's I am not aware off (like most MMO's).
Steamcharts peak player counts and plenty of articles. Most sony games havnt even hit 10k peak players.
