In Germany, the Sammelklage benefits - if ruled in favour of the plaintiff - the plaintiffs.
Also even if its dismissed, the cost of a german class action is basically non existent and also fellow Europeans can join the german class action since basically all countries in EU signed and put the laws required into effect since 2003.

You could just make the appeal to steam for a refund instead. The official Sony website stated that PSN is optional for PC. So it very likely superceeds what steamstore page is saying.

Sony is used to class action lawsuits, they lost 2 cases in the past when they had major data breaches which is also another good reason not to link a PSN account.

Don't misconstrue this. I saw this stream and he had nothing of real legal value to say other than it's a rug-pull and then he immediately moved on. Until there's an actual push for this, this is nothing more than spreading misinformation.

TO BE CLEAR, this is not me saying he's wrong, nor that there's not a possibility of a class action. This is me saying it's not accurate to illustrate it this way UNTIL a class action is being orchestrated.

I don't think you can do that, at least not in the USA. Here we have unfortunately allowed major corporations to put in their TOS that you cannot sue them in this fashion, and it must be a individual suit. However, they will send a team of lawyers at you of course.

I could be wrong on this, but I know many corporations have this in their TOS, including Steam.

No contract can set aside statutory obligations. If they engaged in consumer fraud and the FTC chooses to pursue it, the ToS/EULA doesn't stop it.

Even if the FTC chooses not to pursue it, you end up with a form letter green lighting legal action through private counsel.
